I'm just not a fan of the plod being able to take that footage whenever they want if they have a reasonable suspicion an offence has been committed. Lovely bit of self incrimination with speeding.

I think they're a good idea. The Innovv stuff is very discrete but I too worry about plod bending you over with it.

I've ordered an Innovv K3. I too have reservations about the "authorities" being able to use it against you but feel the weight of the argument is more on the side of "it'll help me in an accident" than "it'll get me into trouble".

The loop recording functionality on those looks well handy - having to manually delete the files off my GoPro was a PITA - but the mounting of those cameras puts me off way more than something I can clip onto my lid or onto a ball mount somewhere sturdy like the bars. Plus the GPS function - wanna make sure that's always off because that'll give far more comprehensive evidence of speeding, right?

Anyone else feel the same about mounting the Innovv type systems?

Agreed completely and the same reason I use one.

    ————————-———————————

I like to think I ride sensibly enough to not draw plod’s attention. Well, I haven’t so far anyway.

Having had a non fault crash where I had no recollection of the incident, I decided to get a camera.

I use a cheap gopro clone from Amazon (Crosstour) for the NC which is battery operated. Surprisingly good. I was going to drill a hole into the case and run it powered from the bikes battery, but the standard battery lasts my whole commute (even in -2/3 degrees) so I just charge it at each end of my commute.

Only downside is the time/date stamp is always wrong no matter how many times you adjust it. And the DVR Function also doesn’t work so you have to manually wipe the card. I’ve just disabled the time/date stamp and also got in the habit of formatting the card each time I charge the camera.

For the MT10, I’ve got one of these https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_prod/464445 plugged into the 12v accessory socket so the camera turns on/off with the ignition. Seems alright, have viewed the footage a couple of times just to see what it’s like and I’m happy with it.

I won't have one on my bike and I won't ride with anyone who does have one turned on. I don't ride like a dick but equally I don't want to be filmed riding over the speed limit by someone who is riding to the camera.

My take on the safety thing would be to get some decent training to help avoid an accident happening in the first place rather than get a camera to help sort it all out after the event.
