Stator Fluid Leak

    You may ultimately have two leaks, one from stator grommet and one from the clutch slave (from the pics that looks like inner seals in the slave cylinder - surprising you've still got a good feeling clutch). Is possible the clutch fluid could be blown up over the stator cover as your riding, but check what fluid is around the grommet - is it oil or clutch fluid? Should be obvious which is which. Sort the clutch slave out, give good clean down then recheck the grommet. Is only silicone compound round the grommet (and stator - however i used a gasket as feels more secure to me!) so clutch fluid or cleaning sprays can easily dissolve/degrade it. Coincidences happen (e.g. other unrelated things go wrong like clutch slave) - is difficult to convince a customer though that its nothing related to what else has been done

    I fitted one to my VFR when my slave cylinder started leaking. They're really good and give a slightly lighter clutch lever. Its a 10 minute job, just pre fill the new one with fluid, fit new crush washers to the banjo bolt, fit it to the bike then bleed it at the nipple conventionally with the clutch lever. Job done.

    @Lock, that does actually make more sense. I just thought it was coincidence I've only had to top the reservoir up since having the stator done.

    That's the other thing, the fluid that I'm cleaning off the stator is clear and not dirty like engine oil would be, so guessing as you said, it's being blown on it some how.

    Think I might bin the stator change off today (saves me £180) and say to them that they may have diagnosed the wrong issue, see what they say.

    Sort the grommet out with some sealant and tackle the slave cylinder.

    My motto is, 'if it needs fixing, upgrade'.

    Might even go the whole hog and get a Hel clutch line to match my brakes.

    So it turned out that it is the seal that's gone on the clutch slave. Also, I have a tiny leak from the grommet, but nothing that some sealant won't solve.

    Am now shopping for Hel clutch line (just coz it matches my brake lines) & Oberon slave cylinder.

    Am also ordering a new seal in the meantime, as I don't know how long the Oberon will take and I'm on a ride next weekend.

    Also is the seal classed as the gasket as I'm looking online for a replacement seal and they keep coming up as gasket, even on Fowlers!?
