Look what happens when a bed falls out of the sky and lands on your head. This was back in May and I'm ok. I didn't want to post anything until the insurance claim was settled. The bed was actually on a trailer and when the car towing it in front of me reached about 50mph, the unsecured bed blew into the air then landed directly on my head, got jammed and then I binned it into the hedgerow. Car driver has been charged for having an unsecured load. The car driver behind me was an off-duty nurse, and behind her was a TT marshal, so I was in good hands. The damage is mainly cosmetic and bike is perfectly rideable, but I'll be looking for a RHS mirror shortly. Not then ending I was expecting after a decent ride out and not far from home.
Glad you are okay - obviously I’d seen the bike was damaged in your recent posts and hope the settlement has left you suitably compensated. BSB panels are going to be a hassle I imagine.
Yes, it's hassle and it'll be a custom paint job, and partly why it was a close call to to write it off.

Glad to see you're ok. Stuff like this just annoys the shit out of me, there's just no excuse for it. I was behind a flatbed a few years ago with a old oven dumped in it. I dropped right back when I noticed the thing bouncing around all over the place. Literally just as I dropped back the whole top metal piece of the grill bounced out and the wind caught it. I swerved and ducked and it smashed into the car windscreen behind me. I pulled over to make sure they were ok and flatbed man just f*cked off down the road. Probably oblivious or just didn't care. I'm sure it would more or less have taken my head off. It was embedded into the windscreen on the passengers side of the car, the woman driving was just going to pick her daughter up from school. She'd literally just turned out of her side road onto the main road.
Glad you ok, all cars drivers should be made to ride a bike for at least 2 years or 6000 miles and pass their bike test before they are let loose in a car, might make them think a bit more...
The industrial estate were on has a large builders merchants, a large fencing manufacturer, a scaffolding company and skip company, the things you see everyday entering and leaving site and the way vehicles are loaded is quite scary, the worst are usually the moms and dads with fencing panels held on with crappy pieces of string or just hanging out of small trailers with no straps, plaster boards on roof racks tied on around the middle that then peel off down the road, seriously overloaded trucks usually owned by small builders, a 3.5t flatbed last week had 2 1ton bags of sand and a full pack of slabs with numerous bags of cement and all his tools on, the driver must think 3.5t means that’s what he can carry.

Oooft that's dreadful and a bit bizarre but at least you are ok. A few years ago I was behind a lorry carrying building materials and a scaffold batton came off the back of it and somersaulted through the air and over the car in front of me and landed on the road right in front of me, I managed to swerve around it, when I finally managed to get them to stop the driver apologised but I don't think he was quite aware of the severity of what could have happened and I dread to think what would have happened if I was directly behind him.
Di's accident on Tuesday was caused by a van having to swerve to avoid debris dumped in the road. The penalties for insecure load are quite poor, considering it could and does end in fatalities. All it takes is common sense to look at something and know it needs securing. But most of them don't give a f#ck.
