Have an Apple from work but buy android for personal use.
I HATE I mean really hate the Iphone
Everything just seems to be a little bit harder with Apple, more swipes ,more presses to achieve rhe same thing.
Obviously it's personal and others will argue the other way but I cannot stress how much I hate my iPhones.

I recently got my first iPhone after years of android phones. I was p****ed off by Samsung stopping security updates on a 2 year old phone. Yes, the iPhone is hard to use, makes a mockery of their “intuitive” sales pitch… Camera is definitely better than Samsung ones though. I’m gradually learning how to use the iPhone as easily as I used my previous android phones (not there yet), but it’s through studying you tube tutorials rather than it being easy and logical to pick up through trial and error in normal use.
I definitely think iPhones are very over-hyped

I’ve just gone the iPhone route. 3 days in, I’m very happy. As easy, if not easier than android. Only snag is that the transfer utility from android is poor so you have to use work around to transfer contacts.

When I finally transitioned from Apple to Android I was horrified to discover that several things Apple had fought tooth and nail against letting me install were just built in. (eg: hotspot)
I don't particularly like Java as a programming language but the ability to knock out a utility in an afternoon is great.

The only downside is that the best hardware seems to be Samsung and they are not my choice of company to deal with.

Until I started this new job I have never had an iphone beyond a few test devices. Like @Paul Longstaff I hate the effing thing.

So many basic functions that android has had for years seem to be missing, so much so it is only used for calls and security tokens with my 3 year old Note 9 remaining as my daily driver.

@Nigel H OnePlus are also pretty good, but for Samsung adb and usb debug is a god send for removing all the bloat.

I always use iPhone. Can’t say I see the issue to be honest.

Out of interest then, what are the features that iPhones don’t have that Android have?

I have basic Android supplied by my employer. My own phone is Apple and has been for the 10-15 years
I prefer the Apple but only because I’m used to its quirky ways and sometimes hideous ways of sending attachments via email. Although I think they’ve made that easier recently.

    I'll start :p
1 - Close all open apps quickly, just two button presses.

I think that's the issue, the iPhone can do everything the android can but its harder to find out how. I've been using my apple for 4 years and I'm still constantly getting frustrated when trying to do something where I end up ringing a colleague of my wife who has only ever known apple and she usually takes me through how to do it but it's never EASY or intuitive.
Each to their own but my own money will always be android whether it's Samsung or Sony or anyone else. The point is you can change brand and you will have it's differences sorted within a day or 2 because its generally a very intuitive system.
My own staff ( much younger than me) mostly started with apple as its brand was deemed better when they were at school.but most if them have migrated to android now and all say the transition was relatively easy but most going the other way from android to apple tend to struggle

My Samsung has only 1 button on it - and a volume rocker switch above it

From memory my old iPhone had various buttons on both sides of it which I found more confusing.

    I’m not feeling it.
iPhone only has 3 buttons…power button, vol up and vol down.
I connected it to WiFi with ease
I navigate the App Store and install apps with ease
I can browse the internet, again with ease
WhatsApp or native texting is easy
    Email, easy.

I’m not understanding the differences

if I use Thunderbird or outlook, there will be differences, some prefer one over the other because it’s what they’re used to or simply don’t like change.
I disagree that one is better than the other o_O

2 - Arrange the app icons the way you want wherever you want on the screen where there is enough space

Never really got on with Apple.

My first computer was a Dell using Microsoft Windows '98. Used Windows at work - still do. So Mac was always a bit weird.

From memory the iPhone came along and was a game changer from Blackberry and other phones of the time. Bought one of those little iPhones that I still have - and thought it was amazing - which it was. Stayed with iPhones for a while as well as a MacBook Air and then MacBook Pro laptop. These were amazing at the time.

Got fed up with the whole Apple thing - always trying to work out how to do stuff on Apple that had been learnt on Windows - just how to use it, not anything massively technical. Granted that is personal and many people are very proficient in using the Apple system.

Bought a nice Sony phone to give Android a go and thought it was really good. Tried a very basic Samsung A10 bought the day of Lockdown - thought that was even better ! Sold the Sony to a mate (who still owes me for it ) and upgraded to a Samsung S21.

Now run Windows computer and Android phone - cloud storage - Microsoft products across devices - happy days.

Got an Iphone because my partner already had one and we could facetime.

Long term out of the tech giants, I have less mistrust for apple and feel they take the owners privacy & security seriously with less exploitation.

I avoid google, facebook and whatsapp like the plagues

agree. that's why my phone lives in my chest pocket and the road map in my head;)

PS I saw apple has done a IOS patch update to combat against "zero click spyware". Updating mine now!
