    In my experience, NO.

I had my throttle issue looked at a couple of times by the Honda dealer but they never sorted it out. Thing is it's not a major problem and easily compensated for. It only really happens just off idle throttle so not really an issue with day to day riding. The service managers advice was t give it some stick, as if you can do that and live on one of these domesticated missiles.

Although I wouldn't say I'd had gearbox problems. I would occasionally get -- displayed on the gear position indicator on the dash, even though it had changed gear.

I wouldn't let it stop me buying one. If you are thinking of buying one. Ask them to start it up. You'll notice the throttle issue as soon as you gently twist it.

I used to commute into the city centre on my 18 and the throttle used to do my head in. For me it would now depend on what riding I'm going to be doing. Don't really have to commute any more.

Gearbox used to not want to change from 2nd into 1st sometimes, but again it was more of a pain when commuting with stop start traffic and filtering. Test ride one, see if you can live with it for the riding you're going to be doing.

Moving to from it to the Street & Speed Triple I neve understood how Triumph could make them so smooth.

Commuting on a blade isn’t it’s strong point. Even my RR6 was a pain at slow filtering with a hunting throttle. There’s only so much you can do with a high performance motor

Commuted on all my Blades, 954's through to the 2018. Unfortunately the 2018 was the bike that convinced me to move on.

I've got a MY 18 sp and I didn't know there was a gear box and or throttle issue with these?
Had from new and pushing 5000 miles now and can't say I've had any problems at all.
A few missed gears for the 1st 1000 miles using the quick shifter but once gear box had a few miles on it and I adjusted the gear lever to suit my little legs never had an issue
Just had it serviced today and nothing to report, just as I like it.
Annual service about £185 and dealer confirms next year will be about the same as nothing for them to do until 16000 miles.
Although they check brake fluid each time on all ABS bikes and if it fails test they will recommend a change but I'm told most bikes last about 3 to 4 years before that happens

Even Bike mag mentions the iffy throttle on the 2018. Very brave of them.
