Hi group , I mistakenly connected my lead acid optimate to my 2018 Sp1 fireblade and subsequently flattened the battery to 0 volts . I’m told the new lithium friendly optimate charger has a save function which may bring the original battery back to life . Does anyone have experience of this happening ? And secondly I have bought an OEM battery for £80 ish pounds amd have noticed it is an 2ah version compared to the 4ah that was flattened , will the 2ah have the beans to start the bike ?
    Thanks

Hi, lead acids need to be fully charged to keep them in good shape, li4po lipo etc are the opposite they need to be kept at lower voltage to keep them in in good shape, if you have had it on lead setting i would say you have cooked it and there is no recovery
the easiest solution for anyone no matter what battery is to just get a standard transformer charger and a 7 day timer and have it on for 1 hour a week, this would just be the same as having a ride
company's try to over over egg their chargers. at the end of the day your bike charging system would just put in 14.4 v as you ride
you need to know what battery you have and look after it

I flattened my battery on a 2018 SP or rather the tracker did. Although i didn’t check the voltage it was dead. The battery was draining for weeks over winter before I realised. I bought an overpriced lithium optimate and it did recover.
As for your replacement at 2ah. I wouldn’t risk it.

My tracker and alarm are super thirsty, just put in a brand new Yuasa so don't want to kill it so installed a cheap voltmeter
A quick check I know the condition so needs a trickle etc. Also tells me quickly if the RR/Stator are behaving themselves!

Yep all the time, I do have a circuit connected to the rear plate light so could change only to be on with ignition.
I have a datatool S4 and a 'Tracker' tracker, should remove both and burn with fire but apart from being pretty juicy on amps they do work pretty well.

doesn't 18 come with LFP battery??

Nealry all LFP batteries have on board BSM, this can shuts down the battrly to protect it from total discharge or over charge.
Looks like yours is in that state.
You can manually rest the BMS by connecting a 12v battery to yours at the same time as a proper LPF (or non desuflating lead charger).

Noco genius 1 (and above) also have the rest functionality.

I assume your current battely is not OEM hence the higher capacity. The OEM spec should be fine but a higher capacity is better if you can afford the price
