Please do not debate Global Warming and it's causes. Our Lords and Masters at the BBC, Sky TV etc. have decreed that it is all our fault and that no alternative views will be accepted.

That's a view that ignores several hundred years of science and learning... you're basically saying "it's some mysterious stuff we don't understand".
Fact is though, we fairly believe we DO understand the drivers of earth's historical climate changes.

Milankovitch cycles account excellently for the climate changes experienced over the last few hundreds of million years: Milankovitch (Orbital) Cycles and Their Role in Earth's Climate – Climate Change: Vital Signs of the Planet (nasa.gov)

If you remember the 70's, lots of people (mainly media, not many scientists) were talking about how we were going to get COLDER. That was coming from understanding the Milankovitch cycles (which show we *should* be getting colder) and totally ignoring human-produced climate change. Fact is (as measured) human-produced climate change has more than nullified the cooling we *should* be experiencing and we're getting hotter.
Scary thing is, at some point this particular arc of the Milankovitch cycle will reach its apex, and then the planets and humans will be working in the same direction!

Things we're "told" we could/should be doing include...
electric vehicles - for most (including me) they are so astronomically out of my price range, accompanied by all of the perceived issues (range anxiety!; charging infrastructure at home and elsewhere etc) I have zero desire to get one.
Heat Pump - what the actual fuck! £18 grand complete install! ...they require all of the existing 15mm copper pipe to be replaced with 22mm plus potentially radiator "upgrades" because they are so shit compared to existing gas boilers. I simply cant see the average joe (me!) going through all that pain and expense.
    Fly less - :confused::(

...and all the time we see Alok Sharma flying around the world to discuss Climate change! o_O ...the Prime Minister flying back from COP26 to have a cosy dinner in the Garrick club :( (I hate that dopey fat bastard and his cronies )

No one has yet mentioned the mining for copper, cobalt, nickel etc. Plus oil based materials will still be required for insulation, lubrication, seals, o rings, plastics etc for manufacture of all this green shit.

The thing is probably one of the best bang for buck green ideas is insulate britain, The gov used to subsidise this and promote it, so why have they stopped this, solar panels subsidy now stopped
they have just told people to buy heat pumps at 18k which at the moment burn more fossil fuel than a gas boiler
The green issue seems to depend on which way the wind is blowing, or maybe who is getting paid to lobby its cause
I am nothing to do with the movement insulate britain

They did yes, it was a 100% subsidy aswell. I had cavity wall and loft insulation done completely free in an old house. Think this was about 10 years ago. So everyone has already had the opportunity to have this done, I'd begrudge allocating money to it again just because people couldn't be arsed to help themselves the first time.

So it turns out David Cameron got £15 million from the greensill scam sorry Lobby, and we as taxpayers are liable for the rest of the £325 million, I reckon this is just the tip of the iceberg.
I would say If we knew about all the corruption that is allowed in parliament it would make your eyes water,

To be fair, I turned it down based on the horror stories of damp caused by it. Fuck up your house for free

Which is totally fine, just don't think taxpayers money should be used to keep offering it time and time again just to appease the environmentalists.

Legislation has been in place for years now to make builders improve insulation so any newer houses should be fine, and as @CharlieR85 said there has previously been offers for owners of existing home owners to have their's done. Personally I don't think there should be any more "free" schemes and people should invest in their own homes.

I've just reinsulated my loft myself after having to rip out the old shit because of wood worm treatment, no problem at less than £300 for a 3 bed semi plus partial boarding. Didn't bother with cavity because house has to breathe.

I am in both camps with a pure EV city vehicle to pop out for the milk and 2 motorcycles (1 is a blade obviously) and a 6 litre v12 car to keep things balanced.
It's all about a bit of give and take :D

I forget - are greenhouse gases good or bad ? greenhouses are good for growing strawberries so I guess greenhouse gases must be good.

That is just as well because here is an EV that started burning away in the cargo hold of a ship, creating rather a lot of greenhouse gas :D

I can feel the planet getting warmer already innit.......:D

Well our winters are getting warmer, and ok if you do not live on a flood plane that the council has approved planning, then poor old house holders are left with the the problem,
Advise, If you look for a house if the area is called fish ponds, lakeside, Ings or anything to do with water it will probably flood
