Hi Guys, I have lurked on the forum from time to time but never posted as I didn't have a Blade but was looking for "the one" for a good while. I eventually bought myself an 07 HRC and apart from this one problem I'm very happy.

I bought the bike off a local bloke and he had left the bike in for a pre sale service with the instructions to fix/replace anything that it needed. I have the receipt and it got the usual fluids and plugs plus a used fuel pump. The bike was dropped off to me with just 30 miles on it since the service.

Now for the problem, under a decent handful the bike completely cuts out around 5k rpm, if I give it gentle throttle it will rev right out but give it the beans and it cuts out completely. When it cuts out it's exactly as if the kill switch has been pushed ie the oil light etc come on but the aftermarket gear display is off exactly the same as if the kill switch has been engaged, if I try to start it nothing happens but if I flick the kill switch off then on the bike fires right up, I have taken the kill switch apart and it all seems perfect. Would anyone have any idea where I could start looking? I could take the bike back to where it was serviced as I was promised it didn't have this problem before the service but the shop is quite a distance from me and I'd rather fix it than go through the associated hassle of taking it back to the shop.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Dave......

Sounds to me that something wasn't put back right when the fuel pump was replaced. Could be fuel starvation under load.
First question I would ask if you don't know the answer already is "Why was the fuel pump replaced?" Is the answer "because it was cutting out under acceleration"?

I've had a similar problem in the past with the same model. Mine used to cut out and act like a limiter at 8000 to 9000 under load but if I roll back then roll on the throttle it would spin up to the red. This was in 2nd and 3rd gear when giving it some, but it didn't always do it. Trying to find the problem was hard. The last thing I did was take out the fuel pump to check it then put it back in and its been fine for 12 months. Might of been a nipped line, never really got to the bottom of it o_O

Thanks for the suggestions, I will take your advice and have a look at the fuel pump. It's obviously something that has been messed up when in for the service.

That's exactly what I would be asking the seller, the fuel pump isn't something that would need to be replaced unless it had a problem and that was suspected to be faulty, I don't think the seller is being completely honest with you. Also a second hand pump??? If I was going to the hassle of changing it I'd have fitted a brand new genuine one or high quality replacement. There is loads of things to check that could be the problem and I think they just replaced it as the first port of call. I'd be checking the relays and wiring to the pump, I had a similar problem with a CBR 600rr and the 3 relays were the same so could be swapped about also check all of the earths also you can bypass the kill switch, I even had a problem which sounds similar years ago on another CBR600 and it turned out to be the side stand wiring, the bike would cut out randomly under load and be a pig to start. I ended up cutting the wires and not having a stand switch.....not something I'd recommend as I regularly rode off with it down and once nearly fell off when it caught on a speed bump :D

Yup.im another who woukd look closely at the side stand cut out switch.
Because you said it's when giving it the beans the bike will squat and the side stand may also use up a bit of slack in it's movement and trigger the cut off switch. I had 2 zx10rs which both did thus at about the 8 to 10 year old mark.
Try securing the stand up with a zip tie or something and see if it still cuts out. If not you know you've found the issue and it's a lot easier to start here before pulling fuel pumps out.
