If someone was advertising an RR6 blade with only 13k miles but wasn't registered on the road until 2009 would this scream track bike to you for those first 3 years? It does me but i'm not thinking of any other reasons why it wouldn't be registered for 3 years?

Could have been kept in the crate for 3 years? Not unheard of tbh

Paulo’s right - there must be others available that don’t raise concerns?

normal track day bike would still have to be registered for the road so age/plate related.
a race bike wouldn’t have a v5 and can’t be put on the road as only go to teams

I would look at general condition, a lot of track bikes have cosmetic damage, wheels have tyre change damage, if it is not damaged and looks cosmetically good, engine runs ok fill your boots, a bike at that age you have to go with gut feelings

Thanks I didn’t realise if you bought a bike purely for the track it still had to be registered but makes sense just never thought about it. Makes it even stranger it wasn’t registered for 3 years.

As an import it would still be registered for the year it was originally put on the road in it’s country of origin I thought?

I have walked away anyway as its a 2006 Repsol and I only just realised they didn’t do an RR6 Repsol it was only RR5 and RR7 in that shape.

I’m now regretting selling my mint low mileage RR5 Repsol

I know of an RR7 Repsol with only 5k on it but they want 6k for it and won’t budge - I wouldn’t pay more than 5k. It’s been available 2 years during which time i've enquired and they are just sitting on it. I've just messaged again but get the impression they are happy to leave it sitting in the garage.

I thought the DID do an RR6 Repsol... and the RR7 'special' was the HRC colour scheme.

I don’t know from what i’ve read Honda only did it on the RR5 and RR7 but happy to be corrected. The seller even said he didn’t believe it to be an original once I asked for a photo of the paint code sticker under the pillion seat which is lucky as i’ve lost the details of what the paint code should be o_O
