    Hi all,
Recently picked up a 2008 fireblade in white and black. First litre bike coming from a street triple Rx. The triumph was brilliant but had that big boy sports bike itch I needed to scratch. So much more confidence in corners now!
was a bit intimidated at first for taking the blade for a test ride, but after a couple of minutes realised your nan could ride it with no issues, very user friendly
Went to the Honda fireblade anniversary celebrations at donnington a few weeks back courtesy of the Honda fireblade owners group on Facebook, very friendly and helpful bunch great day out
Will be looking for parts in the coming weeks, first on the list new exhaust stock is way to quiet!

Have you had chance to wind it up? It gets quite loud once that valve opens.

I have noticed it gets a bit louder above 4k rpm but not massively. I worked for a Honda dealership around 2015 and remember doing a pdi test ride on a new blade at the time, I remember it was a lot louder than mine when the valve opened. Not sure if the early 2008+ blades have different internals in the exhaust to later bikes? My dad has a 2010, the exhaust design looks slightly different and he says it gets loud above 4k. Or maybe I’m just deaf!

Yes I think the exhausts changed in 2010 or 11. Next level of Euro crap regs.

They put an extra cover plate over the grey bit of the silencer from 2010 (mainly to hide the paint discolouration and rust I think!)

You can disconnect the cable to the servo that keeps the big exhaust pipe hole closed below 4,000rpm, so that it stays open at all revs. It’s dead simple, takes 5 minutes and is completely free and totally reversible. Makes quite a difference to the sound level. I’ve been running mine like that for over 10 years

I have tried that, as it was a fairly easy fix. It made it louder at tick over and low rpm but I was after that louder wail you get only with a free flowing pipe. Miss the days of my old cbr600 with a scorpion can on ;)
