I just got insulted by a car driver, for overtaking him as he was doing 38 in a 60. This is the second time a driver of a car has done this in the last couple of times I've been out.

Is there an unwritten rule somewhere that says overtaking people is a no-no because it's seen as queue-jumping, or what?

Of course the driver wouldn't oblige me by pulling over to explain his gesticulating.

I'm getting fed up of it.

I live and ride in London, so receiving and giving insults is second nature to me.

    Don’t worry about it

I get the same. Just ignore them, and keep yourself safe.

Sometimes it's because they were not paying attention and got startled when a bike came flying past.

There seem to be an increase in the number of muppets who want to drive significantly under the limit, and then get upset when you overtake them. Even funnier are the ones who try to speed up as you go past them.

So the answer to your question is no you are not alone.

Interesting you say that, I was only thinking yesterday that there must be something in the law of physics that presses the dawdling twats accelerator feet down in direct correlation to the suction drag from a passing motorcycle lol....the roads are full of them in the peak district...usually doing 38 in the nationals but carrying on at 38 in the 30s!
Probably the same people driving towards you who flash when you've overtaken something at least 2 miles away from them

Over the last few months I have seen an increasing number of motorists going through red traffic lights when they have just changed from amber WTF gives them the right to endanger other road users! tos****

got a load of grief from a cyclist the other day , to cut a long story short he had a go at a moped rider for entering a bike box, looked back at me (who was behind the big white line) for backup only for me to point out that he when through a zebra crossing whilst a pedestrian on it. LOL then he gave me grief for butting in! right little man syndrome but I guess the ya mam joke that followed didn't go down well either

After my usual ride I have to go along our ring road which is single carriageway and always crawling traffic, I always ride straight down the middle and then ride round the cars at the roundabouts, If there was a better route I would take it, it's not the best thing and some don't like you que jumping but I am not waiting in a que

I see it regularly, I don’t bother reacting to it as they’re small minded people and aren’t worth the effort, the same as people who try and close gaps to stop you filtering, I’ll be past them really soon and would rather enjoy the ride than get riled by petty assholes.

yep this happens a lot, I still don't get the butt hurt against filtering we are all just trying to get from A to B, me filtering pass does not impact their journey one iota
Personally I do not expect people to move over, if they do cool, I will acknowledge with a nod or a shake of the leg!, I will pass when there is space, but moving over to block me is a bit of dick move

The real one that is driving me insane is the cars that go to the outside lane at traffic lights with no one in sight and then pull away slow
Sore a learner do it the other day:eek:
Or come of a roundabout exit and go in the outside lane of the slip road and then go slow and cause mayhem when they get to the joining road:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
    Rant over

I have always treated overtaking as part of driving enjoyment.
Unfortunately I am finding it less possible in a car but make up for it when I am on the bike:D
No negative reaction most of the time.
On the other hand my left had finger are getting busier as there is an alarming number of oncoming cars drifting or cornering on my side of the road:mad:

Some container lorry got his arse in a twist when I overtook him a couple of months ago as, when I stopped for fuel and caught up with him again on a busy dual carriageway he drove up against the central barrier and tried to spray me with the dust and crap which his back wheels kicked up. Got a good view of my left hand when I finally got past.

This happened to me a couple of weeks back

The Jonny in the car came right at me on the wrong side of the road - head on. When he saw me he swerved to avoid me and mounted the pavement.

Not enough room I suppose and he nudged me over on my side - I had stopped already - no speed involved really. I noticed a long line of cars behind a bicycle and he overtook the bicycle not seeing me until we were head on collision course - then he saw me and swerved onto the pavement.

Police called - no damage, the bike was stopped and it just went over on its side when he nudged me.

    What a thing
