Looks like fork oil seal has given up, was reported on MOT bit of oil on stanchion, but not used bike for a few months (recovering from stupidly snapping my bicep tendon at the elbow - no sympathy please I was stupid and am now more SheRa than HeMan!) and when I went to go out yesterday found a puddle of fork oil on front wheel :(.

MOT guy said to put genuine Honda seals on as they had trouble with aftermarket, so ordered some up from fowlers at £32 a side. Are these easy enough to replace and fill fork oil - not done them before. Had all springs, bushes, seals replaced by a suspension company near Basildon about 3 years ago - done around 4.5k miles on them so surprised they've blown so quickly. My old blade was on original set at 27k miles!

This is a decent guide for a fork overhaul. Give it a watch and see if you're up to it.

Possibly a dumb question but did you try cleaning them out with a seal tool / bit of milk carton before ordering the new ones?

Thanks for the offer Vic_ster, bits turned up today so unfortunately missed opportunity this time. Haven't tried clearing it out, must admit first time I've ever had a fork seal leak - so surprised it's gone so relatively soon. Am a bit challenged with doing stuff at the mo (snapped bicep tendon so waiting patiently for it to reattach after surgery!) so can do bits but nothing too strenuous. Will whip the forks out at some point and drop them off to a local garage I've used before and get them to replace the seals - had springs and bushes not so long ago so they should be fine. Fingers crossed the Honda seals last longer than the last set!

Upside down fork seal replacement is a pug of a job. I always send them off to KAIS.

Waited patiently for a day, then couldn't wait so did mostly left handed, dropped forks out and took down garage! They said stanchions look ok no significant marks/pitting so will pop new seals on and refill with oil - hopefully they don't find anything else when they take them apart!
