Hi all, Any advise welcome, i have a 2007 model that each year i have had to put a new battery on, i have tried leaving it the shed not on charge, leaving on the optimiser and letting it rundown and then charging again but still need a new battery each year. Currently the battery will power the headlight and run fine when bump/jump started. could anything else other than the battery be an issue? Thanks in advance
Sorry for the delay, I’ll check the brand when I get home, yes it has an alarm and I was advised by the mechanic to leave the battery drain and then charge rather than leaving it in the optimiser??
I buy the battery company off the internet, a battery has only ever lasted 2 years max. I’ve tried both leaving it on the optimiser and drain down and recharge. It maybe that I need to a better battery and leave the optimiser on?
I leave my bikes on the charger/optimiser all the time. As long as it is a decent charger it will not damage the battery, and will in fact look after it. Alarms are battery killers on bikes, and will drain it down over time. Best option is to remove the alarm unless you really need it for insurance.
2 years is the most I got from my yuasa's. I run no accessories and looked after them. Go for LFP but check for parasitic current draw first.
The (I’m assuming) original Yuasa on mine was dead after 3 years and I put a Lithium replacement on that is still good 6 years on EDIT - the Yuasa was always kept on a trickle charger, and so is the lithium.
