I've had my current dell Inspiron 9300 for donkeys years, and it's looking like it might have finally died today. Can anyone offer any advise on getting a new one, I don't want to spend a fortune and I only really use it for web browsing. I've seen one on the eBay offers page that seems good to me for the money, but I know jack all about them really. I'm sending this from my misses iPad, which is good at what it does I guess but I don't really think it's for me.
Oh balls I've put this in the wrong section, if one of the mods see this can you move it to the most relevant section for me which I'm guessing would be the lounge.
If you're just going to use it for web browsing and such then you don't need to spend a fortune. Something close to the £400 should see you right. To keep it simple just have a look on Amazon for an Acer that's around that price and you can't really go wrong.
Something like this Acer Aspire 5733 15.6 inch Laptop (Intel Core i3-370M Processor, RAM 6GB, HDD 640GB, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
mines a acer 5733 andrew windows7 £345 from comet in october does everything i need! just been on comet website buy online or in store £349 £20 cheaper than amazon!!
For web browsing only it's hard to beat a tablet Andrew. It boots quick and takes up hardly any room. Mine sits on the arm of my chair like a book and if there's crap on the telly or even just adverts its there and ready.
That's true the misses iPad is up and running in no time, it just does seem to grow on me like I thought it would. What tablet do you use?
iPad. I've always been anti Apple in the biggest way and won't bore you with the details why but Jeanette bought this for me for my birthday last year as some retail therapy for a hard summer and it hasn't left my side since. I read books on it, keep shed loads of PDFs on it, have the odd puzzle game to help keep me sane but mainly it's for surfing and at that it's brilliant. There are times when I'd kill for a proper keyboard and a proper 2 button mouse, but thats nit picking really. And somewhere, Dan is laughing his tits off.
Oh bugger I don't want an iPad, stop trying to tempt me. Has Dan logged in under your profile?! Most people seem to think the acer's are good and the online reviews seem to back them up too.
There's an Archos one, it may be the 110 or 101 or something that had some great reviews when it came out boyo. Oops!
