hi lads, just a bit about me, had bikes all my life 48 now, had a 98rw for 10 years (great bike) 8 weeks ago thought i would take a test ride on the new blade to see what 13 years development had done and was blown away! anyway to cut a long story short i sold my rw to the daughters boyfriend and bought a new 2011 hrc. what a bike totally love it! had its 600mile service done yesterday so let the fun begin:happy: i did have to go down to reading for it , 5yrs interest free and a free akropovic slip on so good deal there. i dont know if ill fit it though as i do like the standard pipe so might sell the akro. ive put the r and g aeros on cotton reels, rad guard, bar ends, and just got an e seat off the bay, so thats enough for now! lol. anyway im pleased ive found this site looks great with plenty of comments. cheers tony.
Hi Tony You picked the right forum. I love how you managed to keep your old bike in the family too. Durham to Reading! Bit of a schlepp mate. They don't have Honda dealers up there? Cheers Ken
cheers ken, you cant get 5 yrs interest free up here only 3yrs, hence blade honda group, can deffo recomend these guys to anyone! thanks flatstick will deffo sort out a ride together even just a meet up if you fancy? im in durhAm me, daughter, and her boyfriend are going to the tt in 2012 for the 2nd week, ive always wanted to go but never made it happen until now, lol. dont suppose anyone on here will be going?
Welcome to the forum fella ,, Im hopfully going to be at the TT but then again i say that every year and end up watching it at home lol.
:Banane35: Welcome TonyBlade from TonyBlue! I am 48 young in a few months too, and also had an orange metallic '98 from new (black and purple foxeye before that). Ending up keeping it for years regardless of all the R1's etc, but then I did ride to work in those days rain or shine. I know it got a bit of flak from the mags, Blade going soft and all that, but as an all round blast you couldn't beat it at the time.
Me and Mrs kpone and a mate and his wife decided we'd go to next years TT. Not as a bike run as the other couple aren't bikers. So we thought we'd fly from Exeter, rent a car, rent a cottage and enjoy a hassle free weeks racing, except that everything we tried was booked until 2013! So it looks like ITV4 again for me too.
Cheers guys, your right about the rw Tonyblue. What a bike I would still have it if I hadn't rode the new one! On my rw I kept up with everything else over them 10 yrs I had her, couldn't fault it really. One thing on these new ones the paint and stuff is easily marked isn't it, I got it venturshielded from new and would hate to see how it would fair over a couple of years without it, water based paints- I don't like em. Had my first good blast yesterday on the 68 north of Newcastle and boy does it handle well, and the thing flys! Mid range is epic. So strong, I got back home and had that same feeling you have after been on a rollercoaster lol
I can beat that ..... 42 lol Got my Repsol from Doble, did a cracking deal like yourself Tony, managed a 5yr 0% deal with just £3k deposit, got them to throw in data tool system 4 alarm, Honda screen tinted, seat cowl, cheap delivery and then for £100 got R&G crash bungs, R&G tail tidy and HRC carbon tank pad ALL FITTED . . . The catch was that my brother bought one too ! Two very happy bunnies ! Tried Hunts in Manchester first, who were too busy to get back to me ! And good old G W who could't work out a deal ?? Remembering guys this was me asking for TWO new Repsol abs Blades ! So looking in MCN saw Doble who over the phone came up with that deal mentioned earlier - can't recommend them enough !
Welcome to the forum, am across in sunny Bishop Auckland, out most weekends, drop a pm if you fancy a look out ! Cheers Neil
hi and welcome i live a bit further up the road just north of newcastle, I have old and slow 05 blade haha
Hi johnny and Neil, we'll arrange a run out with flatstick as well eh, and anyone else who's near, think a few blades all together would look great! I don't suppose anyone used to go to birtley cafe on a Friday night then westgate on the Saturday , then up to tramwell on the Sunday for shenanigans do they? That was 81/82. Boy them were the days, I remember a lad on a z1300 going up the motorway past the cafe on his back wheel! He he.
just realised forgot to mention I am just a youngster clinging onto my 30's (39) the bairn of you lot lol and in 81/82 I was only 9/10!
