Hi guys. Ive been riding a ZX6R few years and have had a yearning to move up to a 1000 and finally took the plunge and put a deposit down on an RR5. I was originally looking for an R1, but the blade came up at such a good price i couldnt resist even though ive never ridden one. Hopefully i wont regret it. I'll get some pics up soon, but i dont take delivery till at least next weekend.
Hi muffking. I had 600's too, then a 7 year lay off til I jumped on a blade. Easy to ride. But dont listen to me cos I stuffed it 3rd time out.
Hi Muffking, welcome on board. i am sure you will love the RR5, have got one and absolutely love it. Good choice!
Hi Muffking, welcome to Bladedom. By dumb luck you've made exactly the correct choice. The FireBlade will probably be easier to ride and live with even than a 600 but with all the Litre advantages. I jumped nearly 100 bhp to my 'Blade and never noticed it until I asked for it. Enjoy your bike and the forum. Cheers Ken
Thanks guys. I managed to get some pics from the ad. The only thing I may do to begin with is change the colour scheme as I like the white Hanspree model, but I'm not sure which year fairing will fit? I also may consider a tail tidy, but I don't know if they look much different on this model.
welcome to the site muffking. I have to admit I agree with kpone, these a few too many colour differences for me, but then thats why after a while all of our bike start to stand apart, as we make them our own i can only recommend getting a tail tidy though, ive put a pic of mine below (doesnt show it too well but you get the drift. It felt like i had shed half the back of the bike when i got all of the old plastic off and went down to an 8x6 plate (i've took the ventura racks off now too as they were annoying me lol) [/IMG] Enjoy the blade mate - I moved from a zx6r after a short break, and agree with all of the comments on how easy it is to ride the blade, and how smoothly the power comes in. Lucky bugger. I was sat in the garden this afternoon and a full dressed DC3 in D Day stripes went over the house at about 500 feet. Glorious. Then I turned around to catch a sparrow hawk chasing a goldfinch through the trees right in front of me.
i would definitely go for a tail tidy. Also, have a think about removing the pillion footrests, makes the rear look smoother. You can get a hanger from ebay to support the heat shield, which is normally done by the footrest. Have a look at this on ebay: 251084102959.
I didnt think the old tail looked that bad, but I may eventually change it and have saved the item in my ebay list just in case. What i really may do is change the colour scheme or fairing. Does the 06-07 fairing fit the RR5 just as well. Also, as an alternative, can a bodyshop Flatten down or remove all of the old stickers for a complete colour change as some stickers are laqeured on, and i would like to go for mainly a white fairing.
Welcome pal - New joiner myself, not really into this internet forum thing (normally full of nobbers!) but having had a blast out oooop north with the blade boys (and girl!) can honestly say you'll have a crack, great people! Enjoy!
