Been looking for a while half hearted but I'm going to be looking in earnest from mid October, (yes I'm expecting a bonus around then) and want to try and pick myself an early 40th birthday/Christmas present up.

I was thinking to 03 because I've read and heard from various media that this was probably the best early model made but I like the styling of the 04 with underseat exhaust etc. plus finances won't stretch to anything newer.

Any thoughts apart from Biketrader, eBay etc appreciated

£3500 - £4500 max really, I'd like to spend a lot less but it depends on what's about.

That potentially includes a trade in though, unless I can sell mine I'll e looking at dealer which will somewhat increase the price

If you are after a 2003 (954cc) then you wont need to spend anywhere near that but if you want a 2004 (998cc) then 4k should easily get you a very tidy model.
Personally i like the looks of the 954 more but the later model is much more advanced

02 & 03 are the same (954), so you could go for a slightly older and hopefully cheaper one.

Just seen a 2003 model while our on my travels, 20,000 miles clean looking, dealer wants £3699 for it. Sounds a bit pricy to me but taking it for a test ride on Saturday and will research a bit more between now and then

Does he actually WANT to sell it? To get back into the real world, he's going to have knock nigh-on a grand off that!!!

Having said that, the RR3 is becoming increasingly sought after... last Baba blade, and all that... nonetheless, £3699 is a tad strong!

That's what I was thinking to be honest, going to do some homework over the next day or so but he's valued my bike with his glasses guide and made me an offer, think I'll be doing the same with his blade if the rest ride all goes well.

A quick search on Auto Trader shows they aint as cheap as I thought... E.g. original RR2, 11000 miles, FSH, £3199

The one I looked at in Fowlers (Bristol) is still for sale... it is MINT, 17500 miles, FSH, and they are asking £3699... and there are lots more around that price mark too... that has truly surprised me!!!

Cheers Dave and agreed looks an absolute minter, unfortunately private seller so no possibility of trade in. I suppose selling mine privately an option but thats gonna start to get difficult due to the time of the year, hence why I was looking toward a dealer and a trade in, thanks for
Looking for me though, really appreciate it

I think it's worth holding out for a 04, it's just a much improved bike over the 03.

Originally considered the 04, just love the underseat exhaust, styling etc but my lean toward the 03 was thinking proven design and read that it was the best one to own, really torn
