Looks like I’ll get out on the SP for the first time on Sunday and just thought about first service.... I had the bike delivered just before Christmas and seeing as had to get it in the garage quick before the duchess seen it I never really took much of a handover, had a few different versions of when the first service is due ranging from its 12 months to its 3 months from date of reg which would mean 1st service due in a few weeks and it’s not turned a wheel yet! Could someone more knowledgeable than me confirm when first service would be due please? Cheers Lee
Typically I’ve put it somewhere safe and for the life of me I can’t find it now ... Thanks, so 600mls and no time factor?
Are you paying by Direct Debit? ...what happens then if you SORN it, then in-SORN it in 30 days or whatever? Is it as simple as the DD is suspended for the month?
That's how it works, and that's why I use DD because at various times I SORN for a couple of months here and there. In this instance, I don't pay for March, but whenever I re-tax, the tax will always start from the 1st of month as it does with the other forms of payment. The DD isn't suspended, it's actually cancelled, and then re-starts upon new application.
Check the Service & Warranty Manual (Not the Owners Manual). Mine is a 2014 model, but on the 'First Service' page it says "at the very latest after 6 months of ownership" - may have changed I guess on later models.
My 2018 SP now has 300 miles on it so I'm half way there. I was told it is 600 miles by my dealer, Hunts.
Very interesting @Ian E . Compelled me to look in my own Service & Warranty Booklet, (2017 - 2018) which states: '. . . at the mileage stipulated in the Owner's Manual, or at least 1 year from the date of registration, whichever comes first.' (Bold is Honda's emphasis, not mine).
I wonder what would happen should you fail to reach the 'stipulated mileage' within the year and took it in? Someone in the garage would take it out to break it in...just like that scene in Ferris Buellers day off when the car park dudes take the vintage Ferrari out.
As soon as the weather turns get a few miles in get the 1st service done then your all set for the season ahead...it will soon rack up 50 here 50 there.....miles that is not mph.....don't forgot to pull the pin if you ride it to gentle you will have a mare.....plus use all the rider modes so it gets use to it
Also PCP contracts are at risk of not being honoured should the service schedule not be adhered too!! Not a problem if you plan on keeping it.....but if you plan on handing it back, beware!
Totally agree, and Paul won't waste any time. I really stressed myself out trying to put 600 on mine. Was happy after I'd accomplished it though!!
