I’m thinking about putting a after market air filter on the bike k&n or Pipercross, will I need a power commander or does the ecu make its own adjustment?

It’ll probably be fine. A power commander will maximise any mods, not essential though. I’d say if you fitted an after market exhaust you’d definitely need a power commander or a remap.

I've got a yoshi can and a k&n filter in the box on mine, no issues at all.

I fitted a race fit growler slip on and its fine. Haven't messed with the air filter yet. Usually problems occur when the flow changes are in excess of the standard mapping tolerances. IME slip on without a baffle plus race filter will start to upset the standard fuel map. If it starts popping on decel or if you feel any hesitancy in power delivery it might warrant a remap.

how about if you try an Sprint filer and let us know all about it.
No PC, no dyno, no oiling

    But cost more than OEM

A friend on his S1000RR now has a P08 Air Filter.
He is pleased. And he says that now it is very popular filters. Many who put them. Quality is on top.

From what I've read over the past year, K & N seems to stand above most for air filters. I agree it might depend on application and use though.

I take it is is the sprint one (standard on ducaties I believe). Unfortunately difficult to find over here and pricey but no oiling and lifetime use

I am using the MWR high efficiency filter. So far pretty good, combined with akra full system and tune she is making 192whp now. Really impressive jump from stock 164whp !
