my battery is knackered on my macbook.

its the first of the newer aluminium ones. 13" 2009 model

a battery for these is fairly expensive but i have seen non genuine ones for much less

are these advisable? can anyone recommend me a decent battery which are safe etc

    cheers

Don't get a non apple battery mate.

The batteries communicate with the computer to give you estimated battery life , Time till full charge etc.
The knock offs don't do that and are very bad for the machine.
We see loads in work that have swollen and damaged the computer from the inside. worst case is that they can expand and leak toxic fluid.

You have an expensive machine and its worth £101.00 to keep it tidy

Hi mate,, Do you have a 13" Macbook Pro or the aluminium Macbook before they changed the name to Macbook pro ?

The problem im having is that I can only find service batteries for a 13" aluminium MacBook ( apple brought it out as a macbook then changed the name to macbook pro a few months later )

If you turn your machine over is there a latch to release the batterie cover or is it all 1 peace and you have to unscrew the back panel ? I have an 09 15" pro with a removable batterie but from late 09 on they changed all laptops to fixed backs which you cannot buy batteries for of the shelf.

mine is the first aluminium 13" mackbook (late 2008) - not the later 'macbook pro'

my battery is removed by just pushing in a tab and a big panel pops off to show the battery and hard disc

    cheers

Thats ok then , it must be the same battery that the ali Macbook takes. Its a bit confusing as the ali macbook and the macbook pro is basically the same machine just Apple originally released it as a macbook and then changed the name.

So what you are looking for is an MB771 Apple Rechargeable Battery MacBook 13" ( Aluminium )

My staff discount is cost + 3% so due to apple's very small mark up i can only get it for £ 78.12 which isnt great.

there is a few like you said on Amazon uk for £69.99 which is a great price as they are selling at a loss

sorry i couldnt get it much cheaper but they are tight gits lol

Yeah i believe so mate . It says that it comes in a brown box and not apple packaging. When we service machines in work and a battery is replaced under warranty it comes in a brown box as it is a service part not an on the shelf retail battery so it sounds like the seller has a few service batteries spare hence the low price.

It might be worth sending him an email to ask for the part number which is MB771.

Actually i just noticed he has quoted the part number further down the page and there is a customer comment saying it is defiantly an OEM battery
