Anyone been on the Brittany Ferries to Bilbao or Santander from Portsmouth or Plymouth ?

I really CBA to bike all the way through France so the ferry seems like a really cool way to cut out a lot of driving I don't want to do.

Looking to go out in July/August/September for maybe a week or two with some biker mates and hit up the med coast from Barcelona down to Malaga and just peg it around there for a bit then back on the boat.

Anyone done anything similar with any tips and tricks for boats or routes would be much appreciated, think we're going down the pack really light route so just a rucksack or something - trunks / shorts / tshirts - anyone else done the pack super light route as well would be great to hear tips on that.

Got a quiet one to Costa Blanca with the missus' in a week or so but wanna go back and rip it up with the boys !

Mate you need to come with me and my mates, Looking at doing Santander from Plymouth in Sept touring for a week north spain and areas. I are going to do this but have no dates as yet. My mate is takingn his Lotus S2 and did this the last few years. last year he went with his mates on Harleys and triumphs.

    Plan
Get on ferry, drink lots sleep.
Not huge amounts of miles every day. camp one night B&B/Hotel the next.

Price I got for return ferry with a room is around £400-450. but may have changed since I last looked. I been told a room is a must for a good nights sleep.

I'm taking the blade and this will be my first euro trip on a bike. So looking forward to it.
I bought a cheap £16 tent which I will leave over there, and a £17 1 season sleeping bag again going to leave over there.
    Bought from here

Outdoor Clothing, Camping Equipment, Ski Wear - Mountain Warehouse

I have this to carry my gear in plus the extra tent bag

Bags Connection CARGOBAG tailpack 52ltr 4 MOUNTING STRAPS - .. - Motorbikes and Parts - Givi / Kappa Motorcycle Luggage Specialists - bags-connection-cargobag-52ltr-with-mounting-straps-p-16282.html

Unsure what i'm going to take but will be light weigh and not much of it

Yeah deffo - I think you've got the right idea ! There's 2-3 of us going Blade, Ducati 749R and Aprilia RSV so if we can join the times together spot on, we wanna get down to the med coast area though at one point lol !

And that bag looks like the shizzle ! Won't have to wear a rucksack ! Gonna order one ! Is that the best you found ?

I use Kreiga bags, fitted loads in for 5 days, as well as a load of camera equipment and an slr etc... Still had room to spare.

The ferrys are ace, especially the Santander one, park the bike, eat and be merry, and your in Spain.

Will be going end of July. Will do Dover to Calais, through France into Spain then back from Santander. Some nice bits of road in France on the way down (looking forward to mulsanne straight), and wine is better. Have come back through France in previous years, but tedious and much prefer boat from North Spain. Will have ventura luggage on blade, her indoors will also have ventura but on her gixxer, and will be away for 3 weeks. Tips? pay for petrol on credit or other card that doesn't charge, or get a santander account. Don't park near a police station in Northern Spain if you have an immobiliser. Will put touring tyres on as will be doing 3000+ miles.
