Bloody thing. I've wanted it out for a while. Things I've been living with for the pass two years:

    - it would drain my battery (probably not wired up correctly). Put it in the garage on Friday afterwork, no riding over the weekend, would struggle to start Monday morning. Sometimes it wouldn't and I'd have to jump it.
    - both fobs were dodgy. Only one remaining and had to insert some cardboard into it maintain the battery connection.

The last straw was this evening. Haven't ridden over Xmas and also not had it plugged into the optimate (yes, bought one just to keep the bike topped up). Went to move it and the alarm started going off. Because the battery was dead it wouldn't allow me to disarm it. So I was left with bike screaming at me.

I had to remove it....so I went to work on removing it.

I'm part the way through it. I've unplugged it so far after digging around in the rear seat. Didn't expect it to start and it doesn't...yet. I would think I'll need to sort the wiring out. Planning on using the installation guide to work out what I need to do.

Anyway..found this, any idea what it is? It was wrapped in duct tape and cable tied within the seat.

I went a bit crazy trying to smash the siren to bits...

Is the other thing a tracker? Because of the hiss system you should be able to just disconnect everything without causing a problem

Dunno what it is. Didn't seem to be an oem part because it was wrapped in gaffa.

    Hmmm. Interesting.

The ignition turns on, sounds like it's 'priming' with all the right sounds. But doesn't crank. I need to double check I haven't left something unplugged.

Are you sure it's just a simple case of unplugging? I've read that removing it just leaves an open circuit and unlikely it will work.

pretty sure it is just unplugging, bike in neutral? kill switch on run? it may be that someone has run the solenoid circuit through the alarm but there isn't really any need to have done so

In neutral! - good point. I'll check!

Kill switch - yep checked that. Flicking it on and off is doing something - 'priming/making right sounds'. Seems like it's nearly there.

The problem with alarms and trackers are that they flatten the battery, the ABS models in particular have a small battery, once the bikes battery is flat it then kills the internal battery on the alarm and tracker, then you are on a hiding to nothing

Which S4 is it? Mine was just the alarm (green) one that simply plugged into the loom close to the ground point on the engine. It's currently wrapped in several plastic bags, then a towel and finally in a metal case. Put it in the shed to wait for the stupid battery to die and it stop making a chuffing noise.

    I think it's a red.

It was plugged into this connector that looks like it's attached to the main loom. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1451850982.028442.jpg

    This is the current situation....

You need a blanking plug that plugs in to the white connector I believe. You can get them from Datatool or Honda.

Failing that, if you can get a wiring diagram you may be able to work out which pins you need to link to get it to turn over.

Cheers. Are the blanking plugs specific to honda? I've seen something similar on a triumph forum.

Although if you have scraped the unit, just cut the plug off the alarm leaving a couple of inches of wires left. That will act as the blanking plug once you have worked out which wires need joining together to make it fire.

Easy to short things out, if you haven't already double check the fuses, remember you have 2 fuse boxes

Look at the pic of the blanking plug and you should then be able to work out which two wires you need to join together once you have cut the plug off the unit.
