Anyone done any tack days with hottrax - in the uk or abroad? Haven't myself but don't see why there would be any reason not too!? Seen this and seems decent to me: Park Algar, Portimao, Portugal 13th - 16th September 2013 Always wanted to do portimao if I done a euro track day for some reason... Four days on track, optional 2hr enduro race, bike transport, 4* hotel all inc (all meals and drinks) on the beach - £650 quid! Plus flights though.
dont forget you will need a car+fuel to and from the track, about a 1.1/2 drive from airport to hotel, then about 30-40 mins to track from hotel(assuming they stay in the town). been on few HT euro trips,no problems. awesome track, been there 4 times now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3eGnC5m2ks
Yeah I knew I'd have to factor that in. But considering I'm not paying for the track day I wasn't too fussed lol Does look good.... How much room they give you with the bike? Enough for 2nd set of hoops?? And how long before / after are you without your bike?
drop off is usually week before, pick up week after. they use the same stillages as NL,and with carefull packing can get everything you need i.e. spare wheels/tyres kit bag, warmers etc small tool box stands
Hottrax are ok but I prefer FE for Euro Trips. I was at Portimao with Hottrax Easter 2011 when I broke my wrist and collar bone. I found them a bit too laid back. It was pretty much turn up there's the track off you go. None of the staff paid any attention to the fact I'd hurt myself. If you've not arranged to share a room there will be a single room supplement to pay. FE automatically pair up singles which saves a bit of cash. You'll get a crate frame to put your bike in and as much gear as you can fit inside, obviously you can't have anything sticking out that will foul the crate next to yours. You should be able to get a kit bag with leathers, small tool case, spare tyres, stands and warmers in with a bit of a squeeze. I've seen people use shrink wrap all round the crate afterward which looks like a good idea. You'll get a few straps but it's up to you to pack it so make sure you take some old rags or towels to protect the bike and extra bungees or straps are handy. The crates good if it's your road going pride and joy (less likely to get rubbing marks from straps) but you don't get as much space as you do with FE's loose packing method. Portimao is THE best track. Absolutely fantastic and with 4 days you should have time to start getting the hang of it. You can not fail to enjoy yourself there. Unless you highside on the second day and have to sit around watching everyone else have fun September is a good time to go, early in the year can be a bit rainy. I'm not sure about the food at the hotel bit. Whenever I've gone we've gone out to restaurants, there are plenty near by and it's not expensive. The food in the Hotel was a buffet and didn't look that great. I'd recommend paying to stay one more night in the hotel and flying back the next morning. That way you don't have a big rush to packup and run to the airport on the last day. You just head back to the hotel and get on the beer. There will be plenty of others doing the same. The crates look like this... not a great advert I know but I've never seen this happen before!
lol, that was with NL (obviously ) and was the lads with the NL fleece on,luckily very little damage, just a bit of fairing scrapage.it's still a far better way of transporting the bikes in comparison to how FE do it (imo).
Cheers guys. Great info.... Is that an r6 hanging upside down!?! Wtf!!!! I did think about the extra night, and a blow out on the beer after four days on track mate... Prob what is opt for... No point rushing home
