image.jpg Anyone having problems getting theirs to work these are the most common reasons-
- All of the quickshifter grey wires on the connectors (both sets) must connect to the bike's live wires. Usually the OEM connectors will have one wire on each connector which is the same colour. This common wire is nearly always the live wire on each connector so this OEM wire must connect to the quickshifter's grey wires. If one of the QS grey wires does not connect to the common OEM live wire, then you need to swap the wires over on the quickshifter connector (the QS connectors which may be around the wrong way should have a yellow sticker on that connector. If it doesn't, and is a pre-owned QS then it is possible it has fallen off. More important is that all the grey QS wires line up with all the OEM live wires.
- If yours originally worked but stopped working after a few days, then more than likely, one of these wires is crossed.
- Make sure the QS is earthed correctly. Either to the battery or to an earth point on the frame. Connect the live red connector to the positive battery terminal if your QS has one. (If you also have an alarm/immobiliser fitted, it's wise to put the QS live wire at the bottom of the battery terminal and the alarm live wire on top of it, not visa versa)
- Make sure the ECU is securely fixed and not in contact with any metallic part of the bike (especially check when replacing seat or cover that it is not applying pressure on the ECU.
- When engine is running, the ECU light should flash green constantly. If this light is not flashing with engine running, the ECU is not connected correctly.
- The shift rod/sensor should be the same length as the OEM shift rod was. Adjust by screwing sensor in or out to obtain same length.
- Make sure once sensor is adjusted correctly, all nuts on the sensor/rod are tightened so they cannot work loose but DO NOT use thread lock on the sensor itself
- Make sure all wires are free from kinks and pressure from other parts. Use cable ties to secure wires but do not over tighten them which may restrict their movement, especially the sensor cable.
- Running along with the optional Quickset Adjuster cable (on Intellishift Quickshifters) is a thin black wire. This is the clutch bypass cable and should be connected inline to your clutch actuator cable coming off your clutch lever. This deactivates the QS when you are using the clutch, stopping that occasional problem where depending on your timing, you do a clutch up shift but the QS gets there first and causes a sudden rise in revs (we've all done it!)
- If all else fails, Translogic will examine your QS to identify any fault (usually with the ECU) for £69, assuming it's out of warranty. If the ECU is found to be faulty, they can replace it at a 10% discount off retail price and will waive the £69 charge.
