Evening, it's new helmet time, I was looking at the X-Spirit 3 as I have worn Shoei's for the past 20 odd years, but have been looking at the HJC RPHA 11 as an alternative for a change.

Yes they're at different price points and albeit similar are different in their own right.

Looking back on previous threads I see that a couple of you have moved on to the RPHA 11; are you, along with other users, give me feedback on both options, positive and negative?

    Thanks in advance.

I have the Bradley Smith X-Fourteen (that's what they call the X-Spirit III here in the US of A) and wouldn't trade it for the world. Best advice would be to go to a local store, try them on and see which appeals to you!

    Edited to add detail:

The X-Fourteen has a LOT of ventilation, it is everywhere. The vent that directs air to your temples are particularly useful on hot days. The vents force air over your head and out the back, good flow and easily adjusted with gloves on. Only downside is it is a bit noisy at full trot with all the vents wide open.

The stabilizers actually work. At 170mph, my RF1200 was all over the place. At the same speed, the X-Fourteen is very planted.

My only real complaint, and it is my complaint with all helmets outside the AGV Pista GP, is the viewing angle. Most of my riding is done with my chin on the petrol tank and my eyes looking upp and forward. The size of the shield isn't the best for me. But that's just the way I position myself.

Pin-lock included is a big plus, I have yet to fog the shield.

    Hopefully that helps!

I love the look of shoei but they just don't fit my head that well. I've had my rpha 11 white sand for about a year now and it's as comfy as it was on day one. I absolutely love my rpha 11, ventilation, noise and vision is perfect, it's stupid light and it looks the mutts nuts. Also if you do track days the visors have the tabs to fit tear strips.

I have two RPHA 10's size XL which I still wear and think are an amazing helmet, build quality is as good as any of the supposedly bigger brands. I was so impressed I recently upgraded to an RPHA 11 XL which has subtle upgrades and again an amazing helmet but I found the fit was much tighter on the newer model. I did some research and found out that RPHA 11's did in fact come up a fraction smaller than the earlier RPHA 10's. I have since returned it and decided to go with a SHOEI X Spirit 3 instead....i was not disappointed in anyway but I still think my RPHA 10 plus is equally as good, if not a little better:eek::D

Thanks all so far for your help.

Looks like an even split between the two....which isn't helping!!

Perusing the shoei catalogue and HJC website at the moment, none of my local dealers have any stock to speak of to see what's available, they only had two shoeis, neither my size.

Paolo that looks great, neatly finished.

HJC rpha 11, users are you a size up on normal sizing?

Yes - I bought the XL and it was too small - I even measured my head and used their sizing guide.

Anyway, the XL was too small so ordered the liner for the XXL and swapped it over - job done

Very pleased with it, and almost never wear my Arai RX-7V any more.

Don't really know if they run true to size because I don't know what my head size actually is, plus I have long hair so it adds a few inches. I run a medium and it's perfect. But at the time of buying I was torn between a small or medium knowing that after a while a lid will give way a bit. IMG-20180311-WA0004.jpeg
