Just something I been thinking for years. Biking seems to be a very White hobby.. Living in Bristol, I hardly ever see anyone of another ethnic group on a scooter, or larger bike. Going out for a ride over the years to just about everywhere I never see is white ( english, scot, welsh, etc..). I know of 1 black guy who rides. And in the past 6 months only seen 1 black guy on any form of bike. The wife just tells me they have better sense than to ride? Just interested to find out other people's views on this? Any ethnic riders on biker banter? And if so do anyone you know enjoy riding bikes?
Yeah i have a Chinese friend that rides a cbr600rr and i know a few Black riders but they are english not Foreign . Thee is a huge custom bike scene in japan from what i have seen online
I posted this on another forum and seems many bikers in the London area have mates from other backgrounds, prob due to how big the area is. where as in bristol I hardly never seen anyone other than white riding. at meets etc...
Watch the link below... now I'm pretty sure you see less 'brothers' on bikes 'cos they dont want to look as gay as this shit... Biker Boyz‏ - YouTube
I suppose that makes me the token black on this site then! hehehehe Your right tho, i was shunned by quite a few of my black mates as a kid for being into bikes? Don't ask me why, i have no idea? It's not that bad these days tho, i do see quite a few black riders in town (London), and the occasional black face up Box Hill.
Here's a thing. You know when americans make films about car racing, where they believe that changing gear with a manual gearbox is something you do when you're driving flat out on a straight when you've already uphifted sixty squintillion times but you need to make a dramatic point as you stare across at your opponent so you change gear again, mistaking it for the accelerator, but in the film it actually works. How the f**k do they manage in a film about bikes where even in a country where synchronising a throttle, clutch and gear stick is too much like hard work, they come with manual boxes?
I got home from work last night to catch the last 45 minutes of this film on TV. I've seen worse films but only because I've seen a lot of f*****g films! But at least it answered my own question about how can american films depict bike racing. The trick is obviously to pin the throttle wide open, then when you opponent pulls level, open it even more, then repeat until the end of the race until from second place with yards to go you open the throttle a bit more again so you can shoot past the bad guy on the line. Easy!
I'm of mixed races English, French, Portuguese and Indian spent early childhood in India reading all the Rover manuals that contained the TT races. Now do a mean curry with intent of blowing Megawatts helmet off. lol
Where I live you're lucky the locals don't drag you off your bike and beat the shit out of you in case you're the roundheads coming back
glas it was not just me, Well after my trackday I met 2 chaps I know who are British but From Greece. Also got my first black mate who ride a R1 I think. nice chap and a mate of a mate and we got on well. Other than he high sided his bike at at the TD.
