I’ve been looking at a solution for my mot in that the r&g tail tidy has no reflector. I didn’t fancy one of those button style ones on the number plate. So I bought a cheap reflector of of fleabay. Like this.... E05E3666-C74B-4085-A6DE-C59068472F01.jpeg 43AA2C21-7D94-47CF-891E-6624717313D8.jpeg
As you can see I attacked it with the dremel. After a wee bit honing on the grinder it was smoothed of and using the sticky on the back I stuck it onto the bit of the number plate light with r&g embossed on it (no free advertising). It now looks like this, which I think is a neat and permanent solution. Also passes an MOT :D

Interesting. I bought my Blade already MOTd from a dealer. That same dealer will do the next MOT in April. I hadn't even thought of the reflector issue, but now you mention your idea (which I might STEAL and PATENT) I will keep it in mind, although my OCD would see me emery paper the edges into a rounder profile. (Of course I know you are yet to do that:):)).
In any event, I doubt I would be pinged for it, otherwise I would simply remind the dealer of how it was sold to me.

I have to go - those uneven numberplate screw holes are annoying me!!:(:(

Ha ha hadn’t even noticed those lol. Yes I will be rounding of the edges a wee bit. If u do it be careful as reflectors are hollow and brittle. As I found out with the hacksaw before charging up the Dremel. I accept cheques, PayPal and bacs for royalties :D:D:D:D

Wonder why r&g just don’t make it with a reflector already fitted. Too easy?

I use a different plate for MOT with a little round one on. Only time it ever sees the bike.

Mine hasn't seen a reflector for a few years and never had an issue with the MOT.

Depends on the d1ck who does the testing. Mine failed last one before I bought er and they forced a stick on one in place to pass.

Interesting Stevie, wasn’t aware of that. Mine was on the bike when I bought it. Previous owner had used the stick on solution for MOT. Maybe it’s a new thing it comes in the box or is it just that people conveniently manage to ‘lose’ the supplied one :D:D

This issue should not even be a topic because since lights have been 'hardwired' the reflector is redundant. It is a case of legislation not being consistent with MOT laws.

As usual, it is the public who end up the bunny and have to open their wallet.

I believe the issue of rear reflector is in the event of a rear light failure or, if the bike is parked at night on the road.

Of course I may be wrong.
