    Has anybody had any oil burning issues on the 17/18 blade, did the NC500 last week and covered 1300 miles in 4 days, checked before going and was on max line on dipstick and when i got back it was on min line, both times checked the same to manufactures bikes only done 3.5k .. bike was overfilled by dealer i bought from by 800 ml but have no leaks or blue smoke.... just wondered if its an issue that's all .. any help greatly appreciated. ...

    I don’t think that this a legacy of the previous overfill. All 08> blades (including the 17-19 models which share common engine architecture with the earlier model) CAN have a bit of a thirst for oil. My suggestion is that you try an oil and filter change, using 10w/40 instead of 10w/30. Verify the level is correct and then monitor consumption over the next 1000 miles. You may be pleasantly surprised.

    I will definitely do that, I'm not worried about her drinking a bit of oil i was just worried about it being due to overfill and probs down the line... i have come from naked bikes of around 750 to 900cc and have a tendency to roll on in a high gear low revs and need to change my mindset and riding style for the blade, hence why I'm getting the dreaded "ping" .... i did 1300 miles in 4 days and alot of that was 85-90 m/way riding...

    I raced around the NC and a bit more 3 weeks ago on my 17 blade. Didn't use a drop of oil.

    This sounds daft but I had the same thing 16 plate
    I always check my oil regular and all ok, then after one ride it had gone from high to low.
    Got me really worried filled it up again and it has never happened again
    :confused::confused: Strange;)
