Nice review lambchops, shame about the weather conditions, you'll have to treat yourself to another 2.5hr test ride in the dry! I'd love to take one out and experience the power, DDC and auto blipper, but as you say 15.5k is a lot of money for a toy. I know i would get off it wanting something I couldn't have and my 06 blade would end up feeling limp by comparison.
Thats exactly why I have avoided doing test ride reviews Blade in the past, What you dont know you wont miss Opened a can of worms now haha
Great review LC, exactly the same bike I took out and exactly the same expletives from me but without the audience. I too forgot about the suspension doing its thing, too busy playing with the buttons.
Thanks guys, its a little long but was 50 mins after my first cut haha, so this is the short version! Yeah Fireblade hoodie didn't quite go Martin but had to let people know I'm not really a BMW rider somehow! Its an amazing bike Billo isn't it have to say. Cant wait for the 2016 blade now, if its anything like that I better start saving now!
Entertaining review just needs some Italian styling. Whats the quick shifter like in the lower rpm range ?
wow.. looks a weapon. I tell you what my problem is though, you pay £15.5k for this, the bloody exhaust looks like an afterthought, I hate standard pegs and levers.. so this means I would need to spend another £2k getting it to a basic standard that I would be able to live with.. (plus tail tidy etc).. so it makes it £17-18k.. yikes..
Quickshifter is pretty good, I found it stiff in the higher gears. Bods at BMW said perhaps I wasn't releasing the shifter fully between changes.. Perhaps. Was smooth in the lower revs mind intereted to see how the healtech compare now.. With you Gilesy your right I feel the same mate
Loved the review Lamby, just need to sort that sound quality out and it would have been perfect mate.. When i first saw the new s1000rr i wasn't sure on styling but it really is growing on me, i really did like the looks of the old one but yeah I'm finally liking this new one better. How did you find the heat coming from the frame?? Reading some early reviews on the Yank forums and they complain that the heat issues are worse than on last years bike but I'm guessing that in our freezing cold climate the heat is welcome relief from the cold? I know the price tag for the top model is a tad high but compare that to the new R1 top spec bike and imo it becomes a bargain..
Thanks Matt, yes that mic is now in the bin. I was so disappointed when I got home and reviewed the footage I was gutted but made the best out of it That mic cost me £50! I was using a £3.50 mic before that and it was soooo much better. Now gone back to the bargain basement mic haha. No issues with frame heat on the test ride, remember the yanks ride around in shorts and t-shirts so they notice it haha. Your right compared to an entry level R1 it does look a bargain.. Will have to test ride the R1 when its out for sure and the 1299
Great review mate must say I enjoy your videos keep up the good work. I dont know what it is but the BMW bikes they just do not appeal to me at all, yes they are weapons but I just dont like the look of them for some reason.
Thanks Garcher, Yes I know where your coming from there I'm not sure I could own one either... Just something about them, I think its the styling and perhaps some of the parts quality doesn't look as good as say Yamaha or Honda Im not sure. But for riding pleasure its up there
Best review of this electronic robot bike to date mate and definitely not too long! I didnt realise alot of the options are extras; I'll stick to Honda for now (and have the excuse that I dont have any lecky aids!!)
