    Hi All,

Got an issue with my quick shifter and gear display on my 2019 CBR1000 rr SP (not the brand new shape). So it all started at Donny back in June……..

The night before I fitted a loud Akra and can. It was an unrestricted day at Donny, so I thought why not? I also fitted a Healtech Exhaust Servo Eliminator. The next day at Donny the engine light flashed a couple of times then stopped. The morning went well, infact it I'll grasp this opportunity to sing the SP's praises!

In the afternoon the gear indicator started flashing and I couldn’t down shift with the quick shifter. The gear indicator is still flashing now and the bike wont downshift. Anyone got any ideas?

    Thanks

    Ben

Cool pick of the exhaust :)

In the dash, you can adjust the pressure of the quickshifter. Have you tried this?

Hm okay. I doubt it has something to do with the exhaust, unless you have inadvertently disturbed an electrical connection. I have a Yoshimura slip on, and my quickshifter works okay.

I would start checking all the electrical connections.

Failing that, take it to Honda perhaps, and plug in on their diagnostics to find the issue?

Won't down shift with clutchless Autoblipper downshift or simply won't go into gear even with clutch?

You checked your chain tension? And pull that Healtech out to test. I have tried a couple "servo buddies" and some have had unwanted feedback into the system that have caused other upstream electronic issues such as disturbing the QS ignition cut signal down the CAN BUS as the heeltech floods the bus with unwanted comms.

Did you check the DTC codes at the time to verify what the issue was? I bet it was the Healtech.

Honda "diagnostics" is not much more than a Honda branded ODBii reader.

    Hi. Okay, was not aware.

Do they not even have live data, or ability to actuate the quickshifter and see if the signal was sent? That was my thinking.

The bike itself will complain if the QS unit is bad, You can test this. Turn the bike off and then unplug the QS from the harness. When you turn the bike on you'll see a check engine banner and the DTC code 107 posted.

They have some continuity tests they can conduct - you could do the same tests following the instructions in the service manual.

Have you tried with the Servo Buddy unplugged? Ignore the DTC code it posts, or better yet plug the servo motor in to eliminate the DTC code during testing.

Still on stock tires and gears?
    How is your chain adjustment?
    Are you one stock rearsets?

This is how the Quick Shifter/Autoblipper system operates.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the tips, really useful. In the end I was starting to pull my hair out, so took the bike to the local Honda dealer. After some picking about they identified the clutch sensor as the culprit. I pick the bike up this afternoon so will keep you updated.

Hi everyone..... so I've just picked up my bike from Blade Honda of Abingdon. They replaced the clutch switch and now my 'down shift' on the quickshifter is working again. So that's progress, however, the gear indicator on the dash is still flashing.

Any ideas what I should do now?

I'll phone the dealer ship and warn them that I may be returning.

    Thanks

Do you have aftermarket clutch and brake lever?
Or bike ridden a lot n the rain?
If clutch switch really was the issue then QS upshift would also be an issue as using clutch on upshift will stop ignition cut.

    Gear indicator is flashing how?
    Flashing a -?

That’s a good point it would effect shifting for both up and down. Hmmm, the plot thickens.

    Flashing dash gear indicator shows the gear then flashes a dash ‘-‘. 0.5 second frequency. Third gear example;

    3 ‘-‘ 3 ‘-‘ 3 ‘-‘ 3

Flashing when you turn the bike on?

Or flash when you are riding and trying to shift?

Does it flash when you use the clutch to select a gear?

What’s it feel like now to downshift?? Do you get a nice pop when you change down or does it feel solid??
Trying to figure out if mines playing up!
