there was one on ebay 100 quid ended with out selling i think do you want me to try and see if i can find it i put a watch on it
I'm never leaving home without one !!! 833 euros ..... for a new Rad!! Shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttt !!!!!
When I had my RR6, the rad welded itself up on the outside with all the crappy winter debris, salt etc to the point where it always run hot, I tried just about every recore company I could find and they all said, that as it was both tapered and curved they could not do it. Took over a year to find an acceptable secondhand rad, and lo and behold the bugger was nicked 2 months later. (The bike that is, not just the rad ) Hope you can find someone to recore it, as most secondhand RR rads are either mullered from stones or poorly repaired.
Cheers for the info guys, I did stumble across the recoring service while searching... guess I'll ring them in the morning for more info... Does anyone know on average how much this service costs? The rad doesn't look to badly damaged just a small (3-5mm) hole top right... I've seen this as an alternative - Honda CBR1000RR CBR1000 RR 2006-2007 Radiator & Bottom Grill | eBay
Is there a need to add a guard to an RR5? They already have a sort of plastic guard that covers the first few inches and i have a fender extender. Will that be enough for the Scotland trip?
That looks like the RR5 as my standard plastic grille is the same. http://tws.dk-server.co.uk/item105190-5.jpg
I'm assuming a 2008 is not going to fit ?? Can anyone confirm that for sure ...? Plenty of 2008s out there and the pic on the link below looks the same as what I need although the pic may be a 'representation' ? Honda CBR1000RR CBR1000 CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 08 Radiator - Read Description | eBay
Cheers dave, looks like I've got some ringing afround to do in the morning! I have sourced a new one from the states for $469 which is £302 .... just delivery is an unknown.... Hey ho, this'll teach me for chasing an RSV4 down the bloody dual carraige way... and I was gaining ...
I ordered a rad guard for my 05 last night after a run ended with an eighth burst rad this year. Never felt the need before but you just can't chance it now the way the roads are. One of the guys now has a two part putty mix which comes in a small tube and comes out like a Swiss roll. You mix it in your fingers and push into the hole, even when wet, and leave it 20 mins to harden, fill up and away you go. He's been running with a rad repaired this way for some time. Got it from a builders merchants apparently. Handy stuff to have on a trip.
