The bike had been sitting for a good few weeks, it needed a new battery, which I changed then started the bike to ensure all was good.

I let it run for a minute, and noticed a strong smell of burning :(

Obviously I shut it down right away, but now I'm wondering if it could have been some crap on the bike from the last time I went out, or if it is a more sinister issue?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I reckon it'll just be dust or a bit of oil residue, or even remnants of some cleaning you were doing prior to storage. I would only be alarmed if it were an electrical wiring sort of smell.

I coated mine in acf50 before putting it away for the winter - I’m expecting that to smoke like a b*****d when i fire it up :(

it is probably the smell of any spray you put the bike (specially around th silencer) or the moss setting in:); on the other hand you might have bee BBQ'ing the new squatters in your garage!

I took it out yesterday, and it didn't blow up or catch fire, so I assume all is well :)
