spam arabic posts

after a bit iof help please. there is a lot of arabic (think it is) posts/writing.

going onto the member and pressing ignore, but all the ads following this are in arabic, and I dont know which is click to progress the add or ignore it.

is there a setting in google ads to ignore non English text?

If you go to the very bottom of the main page you'll see Privacy and Cookie settings. Click on it and cancel all non essential ones. You should get no adverts at all then. I don't get any after doing it.

I've got them all on ignore but they still flag up as new comments initially. It's getting worse. I'm not getting ads in any language (especially ones looking like a spider's crapped on the page) but hoped someone might be trying to block them at point of entry. Is anyone able?

EDIT that was the short answer @bladey. Problem is there are no admin or staff members who are active (or have been for a long time). @Rob , the forum owner, did show up after some hounding and it looked like new admins would be appointed by him in July, but alas none were. Despite further chases he’s not been back on so we are left at the mercy of any and all spammers who register.

really need a way to block them as its becoming annoying and will drive away those of us who use this forum.

 

Click on their picuture/name block and select ignore.

I used to log on most days but now once or twice a week, but
If I see any of this foreign shite I just log off.
What a pity this forum is being spoilt and nothing is being done to resolve the issue.

 

Agree, but without either @Rob being more active himself or appointing new admins (who can delete these accounts), there’s nothing anyone else can do unfortunately

 

Site probably needs to have some updates to prevent bot accounts from being created.

Also, the site's domain is registered/managed in Cloudflare so would only take a minute to set WAF rules so "certain countries" get region blocked.

 

So presume only a mod can do this? Someone needs poking with a sharp stick!

 

Only the domain owner, probably Rob, could do that. Geo blocking is easily bypassed though.

 

So looks like the spammers are really killing the site now. Latest muppet has currently done 185 posts and still going.

I just saw page 1 full of his shite earlier and instantly went for the Ignore button. I didn't know there were 185 posts. I hope it wasted his day.
I agree it does need sorting though, it won't appeal to potential new (genuine) members.

What a great shame, we've had some really fun times on here, many of the old regulars have gone, we can only hope that this scam situation can be resolved and we can get back to how it used to be, I just can't understand why this scamming is being done, what purpose does it achieve ?

 

I’ve messaged the triumph forum admin about our plight and asked him to contact @Rob on our behalf (again). Hopefully that message will reach him and he’ll log in, do housekeeping again but follow through on appointing new admin to allow us to protect ourselves from this problem going forward.

Just wondering why the scams don't get down to the bottom three subject areas like suggestions and traders.
