Spark plug hole back tap (Help)

    Morning all

    anyone know where I can buy a 10mm spark plug hole back threader

    number one son crossed his thread on his 125, which has a 10mm spark plug

    or does the 14mm one that’s easy to buy fit

    help please

    You need to take the head off otherwise you’ll have swarf in the engine. Pop it into a machine shop

    Agreed. Failure to do so will lead to a wrecked engine in seconds. Swarf in a combustion chamber is a very bad idea.

    Popping the head off a 125 shouldn't be too much of a problem, but I'm sure there's a device that can be inserted through the spark plug hole expanded and then unscrewed to recut the thread on the way out to help prevent swarf falling into the cylinder (may be some crap yank idea).

    Unless you can turn the bike upside down gravity will allow the swarf to fall into the head no matter what direction you tap in. You can use grease to try to catch swarf, you could get the engine at such an angle that the exhaust valve is open and use a leaf blower Into the exhaust to blow swarf out at you tap, reality is swarf will still fall in.

    If the thread is stripped it will need more than a quick tap running thru anyway but you can try.
