Always busy with repairs and improvements I think I've devised a brilliant idea. What will I be doing with these? (Answer after 5.00 pm.)
Brilliant Nige, nice to see someone has finally come up with artificial legs for all those chickens maimed by that bearded twat of a Colonel who looks remarkably like Rolf Harris
Nah, bit early. Still have my Yoga Master educating me in the art of spinal flexion. But I'm sure licking my lips in anticipation.
Okay. I have some broken screw posts on the aprilia fairing. A plastic welder (a real one, not a Lego one) might have been able to fix, but I thought this would work: So I fibreglassed the straws onto the fairing in the precise location, wrapped glass around them and filled half the straw with crushed glass and resin and then trimmed the top. On completion, drilled through the now filled straw and ran self tappers through to make the thread. Worked great, but in my enthusiasm to get the fairing on this morning I forgot to take the completed pic. But all on and secure, just need the screen to arrive and I'm off for the MoT.
Yep. Must concede I haven't seen those or anything like them. Would probably need a good dollop of Maxi Bond or similar because there doesn't seem much of a base for purchase on the actual fairing, hence my flared ends on the straws. However, I'll keep them in mind in the event I encounter a similar problem on the 2001 RS I'll start on tomorrow. Ta.
These are a rivet so with the right tool they do squash and grip But for what I wanted I just pushed it in a hole and glued it They are a metal version of your screen nuts
