trying something new with the trusty ACF. Using bilt hamber atom mac as a rust inhibitor. bike completely degreased chain and all, and Bilt hamber atomised on all surfaces. Allowed to cure for 24h then Acf atomised on everthing but tyres, body and brakes. All body work has already been polished then ceramic coated and treated with super hydrophobic potions. Wont wash again till march/april
I love ACF50, I have a 4l container at home and I apply it with a spray gun. Works even better when warm.
Fortunately, you have an exemption under the Official Secrets Act. The first one is closest to the front door. That's my RR4 'daily' ride at the mo. Next under the white sheet is the 954. Beside that, and under the stairs, is the VF1000R (SORN). Immediately behind the sink is the massively depreciated SP2. I think the sink might actually be worth more!!. Two outside (abnormal?) in my heated shed.
I am interested in your experience with bilt hamber. The site says you can spray it on brake discs as well. Does it foarm a visible layer on the metal when it is set?
Yes. A bit of a shame for the remaining eligible women! I am cautious about making my feelings public, but I did have a hankering for making a move on @Lozzy , but then decided I couldn't cop riding with a lass wearing smiley face knee sliders.
Yep sprayed directly onto discs, not sure of the chemistry but it is more of a reactive action than a barrier ie acf or FS 365. It can also be used post ride to counter the effects of water/salt just like FS 365 but safe on the discs. I didnt notice any visible layers. Can't really provide feedback on its corrosion inhibiting performance as it has only just been applied but the effect on braking performance straight after application is noticeable but no different from riding in the wet. Performance returns after a few applications of the lever. Note it goes a long way the 300ml bottle when diluted should be good for more than 10L-15L!
I apply with a .30mm air brush at 25psi, but yes it works better when warm otherwise as it over atomises and just makes my garage smell nice
I also use an air brush, it works really well haven tried it warm though I might change over to XCP once my ACF50 supply runs out as it supposed to be even better but will certainly try the Bilt Hamber atom mac any extra barrier must be good and I have seen evidence of its ability to neutralise the effects of salt, theres a review on "Detailing World forum"
thanks slick called bilt about the pruduct. they confirmed it's use on brake discs. My interest is for my car discs which rust in oulr lovely humid & wet weather. It washes off in exposed areas so not permanent. FS365 claims you can spray it directly on salt sprayed parts but my expeirence of it on my chain after rides dos not agree so I have given up on it!
I found the same with Wurth dry chain lube. The chain on my MT10 was rusted after being put away in the damp cold weather last winter. I was gutted! I won’t use it again! I managed to find 2 for one on XCP chain lube and 50% off on Ipone white chain grease in M&Ps, I do like that and no further occurrences.
wurth dry lube is too light to provide rust protection on salty wet chain. What I do is apply is 4~5 time in the dry summer period (when it is summer or dry) & let it stay there witought cleaning over winter. I apply more if needed with a light touch of XCP for minimum fling. If I were using the bike more during winter on regularg basis irrespective of the weather I would give bilt a go otherwise use XCP or similar product you
