Bless him what a nightmare at Brands! http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=goV2WK...top_uri=/watch?v=goV2WKND1L0&feature=youtu.be
A lesson for all of us eh Poor Basta, can you just begin to imagine what he was feeling on the walk of shame back to the garage
new tyre, cold tyre and to fast on the throttle...... my team mate did it 2 yrs ago during an 8hr endurance race leaving the pitlane for 2 warm up laps...... let me put it this we, we started 6 laps behind Quite funny us all running back to the box and hanging over the wall to see the flying start, not seeing him ride by and seeing his bright yellow lid pushing the bike through the pitlane ...... lesson learnt, degrease the tyres, and take the first lap very carefully... btw - we're not allowed tyre warmers... Binned it on a new tyres in the first chicane at Zolder 3 years ago, to cold, not degreased and too fast into the first chicane... Happens to the best of us
I must be going mad as I swear I seen the exact vid a few months ago unless someone has done the exact same crash.
Thought racers sanded down their tyres before going out, i know this is a travk day but dont TD addicts do the same??
I recently did a BMW track day at Silverstone on a hire bike shod with brand new tyres not turned a inch! Terrified me was told to do a lap warm them up and push. Scared the life out of me with a £800 damage excess on a S1000RR!!!
Old Wives Tale that! Tiz the Oily release agents etc that running in a new set of tyres is designed to get rid of. Wanking then off with a bit of Sand Paper will do Jack.
Yeah n only way to get rid is to get heat into the tyres n the rubber on tarmac i guess, oh well, riding slowly first few miles is always good even in the roads
