Any recommendations? I want to do 2-3 track days on the Fireblade this summer and reckon should use race / track fairings rather than my nice shiny standard kit... Anyone do this... ? - swap from road to track for track days?
Not worth the hassle for a few odd days. It's not quite as simple as a quick swap over from one to the other, virtually all Track Fairings require a few modifications especially around the rear subframe and a lot of the road kit has to be removed like all the lights etc and quite often there are things like rectifiers etc that are attached to the road kit that has to be relocated when using Track kit.
I have a full set of track fairings in my loft - not fitted yet but after binning my bike recently at Oulton and marking a a nice shiny side fairing I may change my mind! But part of my thinks daylight MOT route and leave them on - I am lucky they look pretty respectable
The only other option is to get some Chinese copy fairings. Think it's about £300 for a full set including postage. A much cheaper alternative to trashing your OE fairings.
I've had a set of them too - trashed them crashing into a police station (kind of ) in Foix a few years back - they break pretty easy but still rode home no issues.
Having crashed mine a month or 2 back I've been looking out for slightly damaged OEM fairings. Gonna fix my originals and spray them to OEM spec (then hide them in the loft) and lay down some fancy sh1t spray job on the replacements
What year is yours slick? Just seen a full set of OEM for an 08 for 250 which seems really cheap if that helps?
Or buy 2 Blades Seriously though, it's the nose cone that's a PITA to swap back. I left my road bike in track form all season last year and did only 3 track days on it, but still rode it on the road like that. Now it's back in road form and the MOT is this Saturday
if it was me,for the sake of a few hrs work i'd swap them.the cost of o/e fairings/lights etc it's just not worth it it all goes tits up.
