    Hi Everyone,
Need some advice on Rear Tyres please...
    • Standard rear road tyres are 190x50x17
    • Fitted Dunlop GP Racer D212 190x55x17 (Electronics seem to work fine albeit size slightly different)
    • Fitted Pirelli Diablo 200x60x17 (Electronics worked for 2 sessions and then seemed to suddenly realise that it couldn't cope with the tyre size - No ABS, No traction control and no quick-shifting Up or Down)
Question is... is it likely to be the width of the tyre, the profile or a combination of both that the bike doesn't like?

I'm concerned that reverting back to Dunlop's MAY not resolve the issue - Even though they worked fine last time - particularly if it's the profile size that is key. I don't have 100% faith in the electronics to be honest given the Pirelli's worked fine for a couple of sessions (perhaps until the electronics were called into action?)

    Thanks.

Hi and welcome. Unfortunately I can’t help with your question but I’m sure I’ve seen a post relating to it on here before. A quick search should uncover something. Failing that I’m sure another member with a better memory will be along soon

Ooohhh you've just re opened the can of worms that's had a lid on it all summer!

Long and short of it is....... Don't change the tyre size and everything will work as it should do!

Welcome to the forum anyhow! ;)

    I was thinking the same.
If you go from a 190 50 to a 200 60 then the rear is spinning more slowly, so the electronics are gonna think that something is wrong.

    Thanks All,
So does no-one run the SP1 on Slicks - On the basis you cant get any 190x50's?

When they did the original testing in Portamao, they spoke about the great V02 slicks!
Quote: "Later on, we get a few sessions on the SP version – and the performance is noticeably cranked up.
Much of that is from a cunning tyre swap – Honda has fitted Bridgestone V02 slicks, and they are a revelation in grip and sharpness, with no noticeable decline in stability."

I'll get two sets (Probably the Dunlop 190x55 Slicks and a set for the road as spares) and see how we go in Portimao in November.

this is a sore subject with people wanting to change their tyre profile and honda electronics not paying along.
The change from 190/50 to 200/60 must have made a difference in the OD to stop the elctronics working properly.
On the plus side without ABS and electronic aids maybe you can enjoy the raw bike now;)
