Bought baby's first tool cabinet and have been populating it with all my old stuff that's worth having. ...and filling gaps/replacing stuff with better quality items along the way. Still more to be sorted and go in. The low point so far was the screwdriver drawer, that's where I'm down to at the moment. Emptied the tin into the drawer and said "FFS, is that the sad f'kn selection of sorry-ass screwdrivers that I have to show for my life?" Most of them got dumped in one of the tool-dump tins on the lower levels. There's still one missing(incoming) from the new straight set and the gap in the drawer will be filled by a similarly incoming set of Vessel JIS crossheads that I've ordered from Japan. Also in the post are some JIS impact bits(vessel again) and 10, 12, 14 and 17 impact spec deep sockets. ...and a new square.
Striking similarity to mine and I had the same thought process when relegating certain tools in favour of new ones, yours is bigger than mine but what I've got is enough for what I'll ever need
My roll cab is neat at the top and as you get lower down the drawers are messier and messier where I couldn’t be bothered. Work one is even worse lovely lovely tools
I have spanner OCD they must all match, I hate to see different makes next to each other, Is this just me
Good to see the return of the tool thread after the Halfords v Snap-on wars of the past. Must make some room in my garage for some pics. On the subject of tools anyone have an idea what to do with the scrap metal Honda include under the seat of the 2019 models, I can only find two ''useful'' items?
More recent additions gathered off ebay over the last few months. All either decent deals or unused to lightly used S/H. The only thing I paid RRP for was the smallest rubber mallet which was just too cute not to add. Knipex pliers. Had one set of their snips and liked it so much I chose them as a brand for a full set. Well, what I consider a full set. According to Knipex I've just started my collection - they do all shapes and sizes. Picked up one of their circlip pliers too and realised that circlips have only been a p-in-tha-a all this time because I've been using crap pilers. Even buying cheap and S/H there's still a ton of cash dropped into that drawer but I've a couple of engine rebuilds coming up so cluckit... Thor mallets. Had the big rubber blunderbuss and the baby copper/rawhide for a while. Filled the gap in the middle. Best purchase ever. A pack of multicolour heatshrink. Every tool in my collection between four and fourteen mill colour coded(except 7, 9 and 11 - If I need to tighten a jublilee clip or work on brembo brakes I'll suffer finding a tool the old fashioned way). The time and eyestrain saved is immense - should have done it years ago. As usual all my old handmedowns went to my pal's son, who's actually using them a fair bit. Him and his mate are restoring an XT600 that they're going to sell off when it's done and have a Aprillia RX50 for their next project that they're going to thrash to within an inch of it's life.
Seems crazy now that I wondered if the wee airbrush would ever see any use. ...and that's just the half of it. There's a good chunk of another bike has been painted with it too. Latest purchase(has a 1mm restricted bore)... ...which combined with a set of these... ...and my existing compression tester and painting regulators should make up a funky DIY leak-down tester.
