Hi all this might be a daft question, but I have a 2013 fireblade, I have 2 keys and one is bent, is there any issue in using the other key?

I know sometimes the other key is the master key for alarms/immobiliser, but not sure there is one on my bike.

    Any help would be appreciated

    thanks

I don’t believe there is a master key for that year’s blade.

I too had a bent key for my blade, I just kept using it haha. If you want to crack on and use the spare key then I don’t see why you couldn’t.

You could always buy a chipped blank key and get it cut and "cloned" to the one you have, the ECU will take up to 4 different keys but by cloning you use the same key and make as many as you want, dont take it to a dealer though ,they will charge you the earth just for another key, I had 3 more made for my 929 , keys and from chips China and a local key cutter to clone it for me , cost £20 all in

And yea you are right I asked the dealer how much they charge, daylight robbery.

Got mine done by a local Mobile Locksmith, he actually ordered the cloning machine that I got the Key and chip from on Aliexpess, he cut the key then cloned it, could look in your area for Locksmith's (Motorcycle) and try from there.;)

Depending on how bent the key is....try crushing back to flat in a vice.
I did this with a previous bike key and it worked a treat, the key was more twisted than bent but a good beasting in the vice sorted it.

hitch's suggestion is my first course of action!
Both key (as on my RR8) are interchangeable.

Worth mentioning that I annually swap keys on my car and bike so that the ignition/ lockbarrel and the key wear in tandem. I have heard situations where a brand new key does not turn the lock!

I had the same problem with my CBR929 a few years back so I carefully removed the transponder from the bent key and put it into a new blank and used araldite to seal it up. Worked perfectly.

I have a 2013 blade and it only came with 1 key, I got a chip and a key blank from ebay , local key cutters did the key then you have a bit of jiggery-pokery connecting a wire with a 100 ohm resistor to earth or maybe live it was a few years ago, then flashes on the dash, You can you tube programming chipped keys it is on there
anyway it worked for me but if you can get one cloned probably far easier

Re reading the cloned key post, these are not cloned keys, hiss is reprogramed same as I did, you only need a 10p resistor and a bit of wire, you will still have to go through the same jiggery pockery
