About to change the oil on my blade. Is it wise to warm the engine up before draining the oil. Also, is it ok to run the engine a little with the sump nut removed, so as to "pump" out any remaining oil? Thanks.
Just run for five mins let sit for two or so mins then remove the sump plug, no need to turn it over at all
Your only warming the engine up to make the oil thinner, so it drains out better. I've only ever done that with a car and a bike. Never heard of actually running the engine with the sump/drain plug removed
Probably already dropped the oil out I know my but advice for next time, for what it's worth. First off, never run the engine without oil or while draining. You don't necessarily have to warm the engine before draining the oil. It does make it thinner but... If the engine hasn't been warmed for a while the oil will be thicker, yes, but it will have also all drained into the sump or southern most areas of the engine already, meaning you won't need to wait so long for it to drain through all the other engine bits. And when I say thicker, it's hardly thick in the first place and due to the fact it's oil, it's pretty slippy anyway! Six and two threes though, as long as you leave the bike draining for about 10 minutes using either method it'll be fine. Have fun!
