Hi all, Just wondering if any of you have experience of doing a oil change on BPF. The question is do you need to remove the the core which hold the spring down using the special £70 open hex tool with the arm to do it or can I just leave it in place and drain the oil? And any idea of air gap for the 17model with the core in or is it more like a take it apart and measure and put it back the same amount job? Thanks
Hi, I made my own hex tool but I thought you may be able to get one off ebay cheaper. when all the gubbins are out it is surprising how much muck is on the parts and springs tube etc, If you are doing an oil change I would remove inners and clean. as for oil level I get 1 litre and split between the forks. it is about 500ml per leg
I have put on a link for a tool £30 there might be cheaper. https://www.lasertools.co.uk/product/6791
Thanks, I think I might get it sorted all together. I think mine is 43mm BPF and it said it is for 41mm tho, not sure the tube is the same in 41 and 43mm BPF.
Be careful to not buy the wrong size tool as there are two sizes out there - I bought mine from these guys, £21 including VAT and delivery to UK mainland. Send them an email before clicking "buy" though to check you'd be getting the right one. http://www.reactivesuspension.com/product-detail.php?product_id=48
The one I have made is 35mm across the flats, I looked at the laser site and it says to use with the cap that fits the 43mm. It is just a matter of finding the size. they may be the same. Ebay https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Spring-Sup...F-41mm-Laser-6791/2113752075?iid=362606276747 £20
