Hi guys haven't been on here for ages but have an issue with my 675. It's been sat for a month while I've been away so took it for a spin for half an hour and ended up with this problem... Basically I stopped the bike and when I got back on it and set off I could only get up to second and the selector that you move with your foot now moves way more than it did before. If I take all the linkage off and just leave the splined selector shaft bit on its own I can get hold of it and move it quite a bit left and right (rotationally). Pretty sure this play isn't correct. Any one have any ideas??

Have the splines worn on the shift lever? Was the pinch bolt tight?

Obviously you should be able to get more than 2 gears but that movement is there on my bike.

OK thanks for the input guys. I'll have to look a bit further into it. Pinch bolt was tight and splines aren't really worn. It's like when you change gear there is now way more travel then there was before

Don't worry mate I'll take your word for it. I just can't work out how now the whole assembly moves way further than it did before

Mark your shifter onto your shift bar to prove it ain’t slipping

I think mine is free play tuktuk. So when you move yours you are changing gear right? The movement on mine is before it even tries to change a gear

No mate that's up to the point of changing gear. If I push it further it will change gear but that's just the slack between gears
