I am now putting the 2014 model bike back together after buying it as a CAT N write off a few months ago. I've got it up and running and just noticed only the one headlight works with normal beam and when you put it on full beam the other headlight comes one.

Yes it may be a stupid question but is that how they are?

Thanks, looked a bit odd at first, someone is probably always going to tell you a light is faulty.

All new bikes for the past 10 years or so have had their headlight hard wired.

Contrary to what many believe, it has nothing to do with any EU requirement, it is simply a cost cutting excercise by the manufacturers as it saves about 50p per bike.

Not a fan of hard wired lights I am afraid.

TC I don't understand what you mean by hard wired saving money, Have they removed the relays so they can fit single use headlights,

I was told this on a visit to one of the big factories in Japan when I was out there.

It is cheaper to produce a bike which is hard wired apparently. I did not go into the technicalities of it, but apparently it is.

I had a quick look at the wiring diagram, The low beam is hard wired straight off the high beam relay input
