I have 2015 cbr1000rr thats on 8400 miles, I've done about 3k since buying it in May.
Would you guys change spark plugs over winter or leave them as mileage doesn't warrant a change I dont think according to manual.

The spark plugs are rather expensive and are relatively big job to replace, I done mine at 14 000 miles purely as I was fitting a quickshifter at the time, I wouldn't replace them at 8400 miles.

Jeez I thought I was tight going 95K without checking the shims, but 70K on plugs, have a gold star brother, you must have a lot of Yorkshireman in you :D

I'm a Filipino, perhaps similar to a yorkshireman it only needs fixing if its broken! Our Jeepney is a testament to that, most are based on WW2 jeeps, TBH most are hanging but still going!

I got the shims checked at 16 and 32k and they didn't need doing, got bored after that. I had a PCV and autotune so the afrs were spot on forever!, engine and throttle response was silky so didn't even both with plug either!

I follow the service guide as per the miles except for oil and brake fluid and then do that by miles or time, which ever is less.

You'll get people telling you not to bother with some aspects such as shims and some, like me, who did them and it did need adjustment but this will have no bearing on what your bike needs. Your choice is to follow the service schedule or cross your fingers basically.

changed mine @ 1k service purely because of the valve clearance adjustments.
TBH I didn't notice any difference in performance nor MPG with the new plugs so 32k honda interval is realistic

Spark plugs - It's a product we don't really think about anymore. In the 80s I'm sure we had a replace the plugs at around 2500 miles but nowadays they are just fit and forget. That's probably why they are sooooo expensive these days.

Probably a combination of iridium plugs being commonplace and more efficient engines with tighter tolerances etc.

I'll be changing mine when I do valve clearances at 16k.
