Do you need to prep the bike before you go? ie tape headlights/mirrors and lock wire sump plugs? Also... Did you ride there or trailer your bike?

They're cheap to replace. Not worth the risk
It's fiddly for sure, but if your new to the bike then take your time (3-4hrs) and it'll happen :) Here's a useful vid to help show how to strip...
I have one of those too (8 plate) and its a great back protector. Much better than any inserts I've seen and it won't move if the jacket slips...
