I'd say 2012 is fine. Anything 5+ years you should inspect annually for deterioration until 7+ years when I would then replace. Just my opinion...

Bit late to this thread but my advice would be invest in a Kriega. Comfortable, very well made, and will last years. You get what you pay for.
