I wouldn't really trust a cheap stand to hold my bike up, what if the worst happened and the frame buckled whilst it was up on the stand..

You will honestly feel so much difference in the suspension set up. Even commuting.
The flap should remain open when disconnected, no need for a spring to keep it open.
