Always wear them, oddly i find i cant ride without them, just too noisey. Only use the disposable ones but been thinking of the custom moulded ones.
+1 on the holroyd ones, ive got them aswell and for the money they are very good warmers.
Only issue was I had to get a bigger pin made up for the head stock as the supplied ones only go up to 18mm and you need a 23mm one for the 08...
Very easy to use with the abba stand. Yep got the cloth over the mudguard just to stop it scratching or anything when I put it on and take it off....
Your right the notch isn't in that screen. My mcguiness screen had a notch in it when it arrived and fitted straight on no probs
